Watch: Voter’s ‘Concentration Camp’ Panic Steals Show at Buttigieg Event

For some unknown reason, former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, whose name is now synonymous with "obscurity," is wandering around the country holding town halls. It's not clear why; he has about as much chance of gaining the Democratic 2028 presidential nomination as Kamala Harris does of winning a grammar bee, or as Joe Biden does of winning the Nobel Prize for Literature.

In one of these events, though, it wasn't Pothole Pete that made the whole thing look ridiculous, but one of his questioners, who, as my Townhall colleague Matt Vespa described, asked a real eyebrow-raiser of a question.

We’re not going to spend too much time on this, because it’s honestly too stupid to devote much time to. Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, who let our infrastructure fall into disrepair, held a town hall in Tulsa, Oklahoma over the weekend. Why he’s doing these events is beyond me since we know he’s not going to be president. Sure, that’s why he holds these events, which boost his national profile, but it’s confusing why he chose one of the whitest states in the country for this. It’s simple: the man isn’t going to gain black Democratic support for many issues.

But this question from a voter—what are people drinking? More importantly, what are they watching? This woman fears that her gay and transgender friends, who probably don’t exist here in Oklahoma, will be sent to concentration camps.

Here, watch:

These people take the notion of "paranoid delusion" to new lows.

Matt provides a succinct summary of Pete Buttigieg's non-answer:

Pete read the script, repeating how the GOP wants us to focus on these issues instead of their tax cuts for billionaires or Medicaid cuts, or whatever Democratic talking points have been thrown out for the past 20 years. It’s so boring, man.

It is boring; Pete Buttigieg, honestly, is pretty boring all the time. He has all the charisma and personal appeal of an actual acorn, which is why even though he checks off a DEI box or two, he'll never be the Democratic nominee for president.

But it's the question, not the non-answer, that's the real story here. I've seen this before; I've mentioned my proggie friend, with whom I have maintained a sort of Oscar Madison/Felix Unger friendship for almost 20 years, despite our wildly differing political opinions. A few months back, he described how a lesbian couple he knew left Dallas, Texas, because they were "in fear for their safety," and so they moved to — of course — Portland, Oregon. I asked him to name one LGBTQ+++ person who had been attacked anywhere in Texas simply for being LGBTQ+++, and he couldn't name one.

Quelle surprise!

The proper answer to the question Pete Buttigieg faced here would be, "What are you, nuts?" Pandering to these people only encourages them, and a quick look through recent history reveals one startling fact: It has always been the left, not the right, that starts building concentration camps and loading people onto trains.

Editor’s Note: The 2026 Midterms will determine the fate of President Trump’s America First agenda. Republicans must maintain control of both chambers of Congress.
