Black Lives Matter Being Investigated for $90M in Alleged Fraud

Of all the odious political movements that have offended recent history, the Black Lives Matter people have to be among the most odious groups that ever odioused. That movement was in large part behind the "Summer of Love" riots of 2020, which caused billions in damage. And the self-appointed "leadership" of that movement managed to raise millions in donations for... something.

Now the "senior leaders" of that group are under investigation for what may prove to be as much as $90 million in donations that were wrongfully used.

Federal prosecutors are investigating whether senior leaders of the Black Lives Matter organization defrauded donors who contributed tens of millions of dollars during the 2020 protests, two sources familiar with the probe tell Fox News.

The Associated Press first reported that the Justice Department’s ongoing inquiry is focused on the foundation’s handling of donations collected in the wake of the George Floyd killing, when the group saw a surge of more than $90 million in contributions.

The probe is being led by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California in Los Angeles, sources said.

Investigators have issued subpoenas and executed at least one search warrant in recent weeks as they examine whether foundation leaders or related organizations improperly managed charitable funds.

It's early yet, in this process, which has apparently been going on for some time:

According to The AP, the investigation began during the Biden administration but has received renewed attention under the Trump administration. The AP also reported that the inquiry extends to other Black-led advocacy groups that gained prominence during the 2020 nationwide demonstrations.

This isn't the first time the group and their leadership have come under scrutiny.

In 2022, we learned that one of the group's supposed co-founders, one Patrisse Cullors, had been involved in the purchase of several high-end properties, allegedly with funds donated to the Black Lives Matter organization. She and the group may have spent as much as $12 million on properties, including a 10,000 square foot property in Toronto that was once the headquarters of the Canadian Communist Party - and if that isn't the irony of the week, it will do until a better one comes along. Other properties supposedly purchased included a luxury condo in the Bahamas and a $6 million mansion in Los Angeles.

There are only three ways that one can indulge in any financial transaction, be it a donation to a charity or a real estate purchase. The only acceptable one is voluntary and open; both parties know what is being sold and purchased, and both parties realize a perceived gain in value. If a transaction takes place by force, it is robbery. If it takes place by deceit, it is fraud. If these allegations are true, then what the Black Lives Matter leadership has done is to defraud their donors; we can't be sure what the donors to the group thought they would be paying for, but it's for sure and for certain that a fancy California mansion wasn't on the list.

Finally, the organization responded:

The Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation said in a statement to AP that it "is not a target of any federal criminal investigation" and remains committed to transparency and accountability.

You don't say.
