It's Monday, the sun came up in the east this morning, water is wet, the sky is blue, and the legacy media can't be relied on to tell the truth. We should note that you don't get much more legacy media than the Los Angeles Times, which is among the most legacy of media that ever legacy media-ed. And in a recent piece, the Times accused Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) of neglecting the medical needs of an illegal alien child with leukemia.
There's just one problem. It's utterly false.
FAKE DISGUSTING “NEWS” as the @LATimes knows. The implication that @ICEgov would deny a child the medical care they need is flatly FALSE. ICE ALWAYS prioritizes the health, safety, and well-being of all detainees in its care.

At no time during detention is a detained individual… pic.twitter.com/3Rrqs4Nnpu
The post continues:
At no time during detention is a detained individual denied emergency care.
This family had chosen to appeal their case —which had already been thrown out by an immigration judge — and will remain in ICE custody until it is resolved.
Fortunately, the minor child in question has not undergone chemotherapy in over a year, and has been seen regularly by medical personnel since arriving at the Dilley facility.
ICE has never denied emergency or life-sustaining health care to any detainee. Nor should they; we are not savages, after all. But the child doesn't appear to be in any immediate danger. The child has not undergone chemotherapy, as noted, for over a year. That would seem to indicate that, at present, there are no cancerous cells in the child's blood. The child is not "battling leukemia," as the disease seems to be, for the moment, under control, and the child is receiving sustaining care, as opposed to active cancer treatments.
And we note that one judge has already denied the family's appeal. They are not, according to the ICE statement here, being processed for deportation, just being held in an ICE facility until their appeal is decided.
And, we remind you, they are in the country illegally.

In point of fact, this family, unnamed as they are, is receiving far better treatment than a family in their situation would be receiving almost anywhere else on the planet. Were they residing illegally in Mexico, a jail cell or immediate deportation would be their portion. Ditto for most of Latin America, Asia, and much of the world. Even now, with the ongoing (and justified) effort to remove people in our nation illegally, the people detained by ICE and other law enforcement agencies involved are not denied medical care or any of the other basic needs of life. The Los Angeles Times is, in this as in so many other instances, just plain wrong.
The family, once more, is in the country illegally. There are consequences for these kinds of things. There is a legal process for entering the country; this family ignored it. There is even a legal process for appealing their deportation order, and they are following that. They will remain in the United States, in ICE custody, with the child continuing to receive examinations, until their case is legally decided.
The legacy media is great on these heart-wrenching, emotionally laden pieces. But the problem is how many of them are false. It's small wonder that the people trust the legacy media about as much as they would trust a slimy guy on a Manhattan street corner promising to deliver the title to the Empire State building for a surprisingly small price.
Editor's Note: The mainstream media continues to deflect, gaslight, spin, and lie.
