This makes PERFECT sense and I’m glad the Trump administration is doing this. Putting the North Koreans on ice for the rest of the year is the right thing to do.

According to a new report out today it seems President Trump has told advisers that he does not want to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jon Un again before the election in November. This means that Trump himself realizes that N. Korea is just stalling and he needs to focus on the reelection campaign and possibly deal with the stalled talks if he wins.

President Donald Trump has told top foreign policy advisers that he does not want another summit with Kim Jong Un before the presidential election in November, according to two sources familiar with the discussions.

Trump’s last meeting with the North Korean dictator took place almost exactly a year ago, and both leaders walked away empty-handed. Since then diplomacy — aimed at achieving the denuclearization of North Korea — has floundered, and as Trump focuses on his re-election campaign his appetite to engage on the issue has waned, according to the sources.

Trump expressed his frustration late last year after the first working-level talks between the two countries for 8 months fell apart in October, sources explained. US negotiators believed they were making progress during the talks in Stockholm until the North Koreans claimed they broke down because the US had come “empty handed.”

In the three meetings, Trump had with Un nothing has been accomplished other than some photo ops and a direct line of communication. The North Koreans are just stalling on doing anything hoping that the U.S. position will change on any number of things. Namely, the tariffs that the Americans have imposed on them. Trump has been remarkably consistent in this regard. He will smile at you and say you get along great but unless you do what U.S. policy requires you get no break from tariffs.

Currently, Russia’s Putin, China’s Xi Jinping and now Jong Un have been the receipts of this tactic and so far it has worked.

Now it seems crystal clear that after the State of the Union, that Trump 2020 is in high gear and focusing on beating whoever limps out of Milwaukee for the Democrats this summer.
