That weird period between Christmas Day and New Year's Day that some call "Twixmas" is upon us, but it doesn't look like President Trump has any plans to veg out, eat leftovers, and watch movie marathons. Instead, Mar-a-Lago, the "White House of the South," is apparently set to play host to two world leaders in the coming days, and securing lasting peace in both Ukraine and Gaza will be atop the agenda.
First up, according to reports, will be Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky, who is expected to meet with Trump on Sunday. The meeting signals that real progress is being made on a potential agreement to end the war between Russia and Ukraine, as President Trump had previously said he wouldn't meet with Zelensky until a deal was close at hand.
Zelensky teased a meeting with Trump in a social media post Friday, saying, "We have agreed on a meeting at the highest level – with President Trump in the near future. A lot can be decided before the New Year. Glory to Ukraine!" The Ukraine president indicated that Trump's proposed peace place had been "90%" agreed to, but didn't indicate if any plans were set to be signed at the Mar-a-Lago confab.
Trump is expected to host Zelensky in Mar-a-Lago on Sunday to try and reach agreement on the U.S. peace plan.

The meeting is a sign of significant progress in the talks. Trump said previously that he'd only meet Zelensky if he felt a deal was close. https://t.co/cBT7WAMj0E
The Florida meeting between Trump and Zelensky would cap off months of meetings held by Trump advisors Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who have been crisscrossing the world in pursuit of peace deals. The two most recently met with Ukrainian national security adviser Rustem Umerov in Miami, with the talks reportedly "positive and constructive."
The Kremlin confirmed Friday that that Yuri Ushakov, Russia President Vladimir Putin's chief foreign policy aide, had recently engaged in conversations with his U.S. counterparts. Heading into Sunday's meeting, one U.S. official remarked, "We've gone as far as possible with the Russians and the Ukrainians. We've made more progress in the last two weeks than the last year. We want to push the ball into the goal. We're heading in the right direction."

Witkoff and Kushner have been busy on this front, too, with the duo recently holding talks with Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey to finalize agreements that would be the foundation for phase two of the Israel-Hamas peace deal, which includes Hamas relinquishing its weapons and the Israel pulling back its military.
Although there are indications that the U.S. is frustrated with what they see as Netanyahu slow-walking the peace process, Israeli officials say the upcoming sit-down at Mar-a-Lago is "a crucial meeting." Said one insider, "Bibi is trying to convince a one-man audience. The question is whether Trump will side with him or with his top advisers when it comes to Gaza. Who knows what Trump will choose?"
Whether it’s Kyiv or Gaza, it's clear that President Trump intends to prove that he truly does mean it when he says he's the "president of peace." If he's successful, even the Nobel Committee might find it difficult to ignore.
