Longtime Trump aide Dan Scavino, perhaps best known for frequently posting videos showing behind-the-scenes glimpses of life at the White House, has gone strangely quiet over the last day or so. Turns out, it's for a very good reason: he's getting a big promotion.

Scavino, whose previous title was Assistant to the President & White House Deputy Chief of Staff, will be taking over duties as director of White House Presidential Personnel, the office tasked with vetting, hiring, and managing staffing decisions throughout the executive branch. The position is open following the departure of Sergio Gor, who was announced last week as President Trump's nominee to be Ambassador to India; Gor had led the Presidential Personnel office since January.

Axios broke the story of Scavino's promotion:

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt praised Scavino for being one of President Trump's "most trusted" advisors, saying "there is nobody better" to take on the role of placing qualified personnel into vacancies within the administration.

"Dan Scavino is one of President Trump's most trusted and longest serving advisers. There is nobody better to ensure the the President's administration is staffed with the most qualified, competent, and America First-driven workers," White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told Axios.

"There is much still to be done and Dan's leadership will ensure the highest quality, most dedicated workforce ever," she added.

And, indeed, Scavino has worked for President Trump for many decades now, dating all the way back to 1990 when Scavino was employed as a caddie at a golf club Trump bought; he later joined the Trump organization in a more official capacity as assistant manager of the Trump National Golf Club in Westchester, New York.

When Trump decided to test the political waters back in 2015, Dan Scavino was right there with him, first acting as a general aide and social media director during the 2016 presidential election, then becoming White House Director of Social Media during the first Trump administration. Scavino eventually climbed the ranks to Senior Advisor for Digital Strategy and then Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications.

Needless to say, Dan Scavino is a Trump guy, through and through. Here's a bit of what he's captured in the very consequential recent weeks of the Trump administration:

A source familiar with the responsibilities of Scavino's new role says the loyal Trump aide will "scrutinize the current staff and personnel changes that happen as the office transitions to a new leadership and structure." It remains to be seen if that will leave much time for those behind-closed-doors videos of the Trump White House we've come to love.
