I have a confession to make: when I first entered the world of conservative activism back in 2008, I was pretty naive about how evil and soulless the American left had become. Now, I had been involved in politics before, during my pre-kids days of the 1990s, and had seen some pretty despicable behavior from Democrats; the male staffers of my Republican congressional candidate's opponent back in 1994 were particularly vile and misogynistic (and I don't say that lightly), but I just laughed them off. They weren't worth my time.
Fast forward to the 2008 presidential election, which saw John McCain and Sarah Palin take on Barack Obama and Joe Biden. I popped my head up from my happy and mostly politics-free mommy-hood to take notice of how Palin, a conservative woman not unlike myself, was being treated by the left and their media lapdogs. As you all know, she was not treated well, and neither are most conservative women who dare to make their voices heard. Lefty men, in particular, loathe conservative women.
This was the exact time that conservatives flocked to social media, Twitter in particular, in order to find like-minded Americans with whom to associate. Social media back then was far more social than it is today, and I, a lowly stay-at-home mom, was able to make connections with some prominent conservatives. But, I also noticed just how ugly Democrats and their leftist foot soldiers were, now emboldened by their ability to anonymously spew their hatred.
On election night of 2008, once it was clear that Democrats would take the White House, a lefty Twitterer felt the need to send me a message about how he was going to laugh and laugh when I was marched off to a reeducation camp after Obama took office. Any naivete I may have still had about the true nature of the American left was well and truly shattered at that point.
About a year later, the true vileness of the American left was laid bare for all to see when Rush Limbaugh was rushed to the hospital after experiencing chest pains while on vacation in Hawaii over the Christmas holiday. Oh, they were full of glee. Certain that he was on his deathbed, they took to Twitter to dance on his grave—and much worse—in the way only the most depraved amongst us can; they gloried in their hatred. It was like Baal himself had taken over an entire political party.
Things, of course, have only gotten worse from there. When Rush did pass away years later, the left outdid themselves in vying for gold in the Hell Olympics. And their hatred towards Donald Trump and the everyday Americans who support him is next-level degeneracy.
Because they've turned their backs on God, there are no depths of darkness into which the left will not plunge themselves in order to score political points. Self-debasement seems to bring them the most joy; it's really quite twisted when you think about it.
The depravity of the left only makes the decency of the right that much more stark in contrast. Take this week's news that Joe Biden had been diagnosed with prostate cancer. While the left would welcome the opportunity to mock their political foes and pre-rejoice in a possibly-hastened death, conservatives instead wished him well. It's the only decent thing to do, even if you simultaneously recognize the enormously destructive things the man and his family have done to the country.
Vice President JD Vance struck exactly the right note in remarks he gave on Air Force Two as he returned from the inauguration of Pope Leo XIV in Rome.
.@VP JD Vance on former President Biden's cancer diagnosis: "We really do need to be honest about whether the former president was capable of doing the job...I don't think that he was in good enough health. In some ways, I blame him less than I blame the people around him." pic.twitter.com/0DYOd2mu4G

Here's some of what Vance said:
First of all, of course, we wish the best for the former president's health. And it sounds pretty serious, but hopefully he makes the right recovery.
Followed by:
We really do need to be honest about whether the former president was capable of doing the job. You can separate the desire for him to have the right health outcome with the recognition—whether it was doctors, whether it was staffers around the president—I don't think he was able to do a good job for the American people.
That's how the grown-ups do it. Wish your political opponent well in his health struggles while also doing what this moment in history demands by seeking accountability. It speaks quite well to the maturity, decency, and principled nature of the modern conservative movement.
Hilariously, Michelle Obama once said of the American right: "When they go low, we go high." She must actually have been high to think such a thing, as it's her side that's proven time and again there is no depth to which they won't sink in order to obtain and hold power. And, even more hilariously, they are completely blind to their own awfulness.
