The United States of America this July will celebrate its 249th birthday, which, if you take a moment and think about that, is a pretty big deal and a miraculous event given our history. That history includes some not-stellar moments on many different topics and events, and we have had various and tough discussions on them.
The one thing that truly stood out about this nation from its founding is the principle of being able to freely criticize our government and those who lead the government (and, by extension, people who serve in the capacity to make things operate as smoothly as possible).
That also extends to the process of electing people and examining why it happened and how it happened.
The post-election and inauguration brainstorming for the progressives is one of the things I love to read, observe, and ponder. In the 60-some-odd days since Trump raised his right hand and became the 47th president in the Capitol Rotunda, there has been much discussion on how he not only won the popular vote and the electoral vote but all seven swing states.
Most of the analysis I have come across has been paper tissue feelings that Hitler 2.0 is back in the White House. There has not been much serious discussion that I have found other than that people didn't know how bad Trump was or how good Harris was.
Here is just a brief example of what I have seen:
Since President Donald Trump won a second term, shocking political pundits and the Washington establishment, the Democratic Party has been struggling to figure out why it lost. In that process, the party has sought to shift blame to its loyal constituencies that did not show up for the party’s 2024 standard-bearer and former Vice President Kamala Harris.
While that may be true to some extent, what the party has failed to recognize is that it has a chronic messaging problem. Some of the political insiders it dispatches to speak to voters are out of touch with the realities on the ground regarding the everyday struggles of rural and urban America. They have no clear-cut message to captivate supporters who are willing to rally around its national candidates.
I can't disagree with the old trope that it is a messaging problem because, a lot of times, it probably is.
Yet before Joe Biden was thrown under the bus and before Nancy Pelosi and George Clooney put their feet on his behind to kick him out, the Dems' messaging was shoddy at best. Having a guy who was unable to complete a coherent thought and being the leader of the free world should have terrified those closest to him.
With even a younger version of a progressive leader in Kamala Harris, how do you explain the Democrat support for biological boys or men being allowed to compete with biological girls or women? Name the greatest author of all time and give them the task of trying to craft a message to sell that nonsense, and it won't fly.
The second part of this is the myth (that the Biden team sold and the media happily chirped about and regurgitated) that only Congress could fix the border with legislation. That was a bowl of malarkey, as Joe might have said.
The post is long, but here are some of the salient points:
BREAKING: Senior ICE and DHS officials just held a background call w/ reporters. Highlights below, per these officials:
Trump administration ICE interior arrests of illegal aliens inside the US has already surpassed all of Biden's ICE interior arrests in all of Fiscal Year 2024. In Trump's first 50 days in office from January 20th through March 10th, the Trump administration ICE has made 32,809 arrests of illegal aliens in the interior of the US. This almost matches all of Biden ICE interior arrests in FY 2024, which were about 33,300.
Officials say in the last two days since March 10th, the Trump ICE arrests are now above this number.
Messaging is not going to be able to explain away hard numbers caused by idiotic actions.
Lastly, the simple fact of the matter is people had seen enough of Joe Biden and his administration over four years, and the country had gotten worse. Even though the Democrats have relied heavily on the mainstream media for the last 40 years, enough factors and venues providing different voices and options crept into mainstream America and allowed voters to see beyond the traditional venues of delivering information.
Trump surviving an assassination attempt also helped his cause, and his response to it was an epic show of defiance. Americans kinda dig that stuff.
The author of the piece I linked to above and many other people of her ilk are still looking at the wrong things, and that is good for the long-term health of the country.
Since Trump’s electoral victory, there’s been no known public meeting of congressional Democrats in a city like Detroit to explain what the federal government’s drastic cuts would mean. That’s because they believe that Detroiters would show up anyway in the next election, forgetting that during the last campaign, Harris got less votes out of Detroit, the party’s most concentrated urban vote in the state.
Here is the killer line
A new party is needed.
A new party with the same dumb ideas won't change the results of elections.
However, I encourage you to continue on that path for as long as possible.
The Democrat Party has never been less popular as voters reject its globalist agenda.
