This Is the Way: Comedian Who Made 'That' Joke at Trump MSG Rally Refuses to Apologize

Was there any more desperate moment during the 2024 presidential campaign than when comedian Tony Hinchcliffe took the stage at Donald Trump's Madison Square Garden rally in late October and told a joke about Puerto Rico? It wasn't the joke that was desperate, of course, but the left's reaction to it. They are so utterly without humor that they blamed a comedian for telling a joke

As a reminder, here's what Hinchcliffe said:

“There’s a lot going on. Like, I don’t know if you know this, but there’s literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now. I think it’s called Puerto Rico,” Hinchcliffe said on stage Sunday, eliciting mixed reactions from the crowd.

The desperation surfaced when Kamala Harris's campaign, which was sorely lacking in creativity, authenticity, inspiration, and enthusiasm, tried to take the joke and make it into a campaign issue. We were told by those "in the know" that this would sink Trump — who didn't, in fact, make the joke — with Hispanics. Those predictions turned out to be spectacularly wrong.

Donald Trump and the Republicans did so well with Hispanics, in fact, that Republican Jenniffer González Colón was elected governor of Puerto Rico. It doesn't get any more 2024 than that.

In the wake of the faux-outrage generated by Democrats over his joke, Tony Hinchcliffe refused to apologize for being a comedian who told a joke on a political stage, saying, "I apologize to absolutely nobody."

Here's what he said in the above clip:

"Last night I gave a speech about free speech. I am currently under attack, I am the news. I referenced Puerto Rico, which currently has a landfill problem, and I'm the only person who knew about this unfortunately.

I just want to say I love Puerto Ricans, they're smart people and smart enough to know when they're being used a political fodder and right now thats happening.

I apologize to absolutely nobody.

Not to the Puerto Ricans;

Not to the whites;

Not to the blacks;

Not to the Palestinians;

Not to the Jews; and,

Not to my own mother

To the mainstream media and those trying to slander me online: I go hard and that's never going to change."

Hinchcliffe also addressed the matter on the Monday episode of his popular comedy podcast, "Kill Tony." While acknowledging that a political rally one week out from an election was possibly not the right place or time to deliver the joke, he once again refused to apologize.

[Puerto Rico] currently has a landfill problem, in which all their landfills are filled to the brim. I guess I'm the only one who knew about this, unfortunately.

With that said, I love Puerto Ricans. They’re very smart people. They’re smart, they’re street smart and they’re smart enough to know when they’re being used as political fodder. Right now that is happening. I apologize to absolutely nobody. Not to the Puerto Ricans, not to the whites, not to the Blacks, not to the Palestinians, not to the Jews, and not to my own mother, who I made fun of during the set.

Nobody clipped that. No headlines about me making fun of my own mother. Perhaps that venue at that time wasn’t the best f*cking place to do this set at. But, in any matter, to the mainstream media and to anybody trying to slander me online: That’s what I do, and that’s never going to change."

Tony Hinchcliffe is right to dig in on this matter, and the lesson is clear and worth repeating: Never, ever bend the knee to the rage mob.
