We really are in a declining culture.
None of the innovation, advances in medicine, strides in communication or transportation can make up for the level of stupid within the populace that seems to be the tradeoff.
As I’ve said on multiple occasions, I get being upset about a Trump presidency, but what’s done is done, and now it is up to us, as a nation, to remain vigilant, of course, but to also step back and allow for the process of governance to take its course.
If he is as awful as many of us believe he will be, then we raise up and demand our elected officials do their jobs and remove him, but until then, the time for trying to stop him or disrupt the process has passed.
Of course, that means nothing to the professional agitators, who apparently don’t have time for jobs, but they’ve got more than ample time to protest.
As Donald Trump’s inauguration kicks off next week, there is a group of anarchists who feel a peaceful transition of power is a threat, and they’re determined that it won’t be a smooth ride, if they have their say.
The group, called #DisruptJ20, is planning protests in cities nationwide on Jan. 20, but the protests in Washington would receive the most attention if the protesters’ plans succeed. Organizer Legba Carrefour told the Washington Examiner the protesters’ preparations began in June and are culminating in what they call “Operation Clusterf**k.” The #DisruptJ20 group is providing housing for 1,000 participants thus far and is working with other groups for its protest.
Carrefour went on to say that they know they can’t stop the inauguration from happening, but that they can ruin the notion of it being a “peaceful transition” through their actions.
That’s the part where people like this group reveal their total lack of self-awareness. They’re going to prove it’s not a “peaceful transition” by creating an atmosphere of unrest.
They are incapable of grasping the irony – THEY are the cause of the very lack of peacefulness they’re protesting.
The first part of the plan involves blocking “all of the major ingresses into the city especially from the south,” meaning that the protesters intend to make entering the District from Virginia an “absolute nightmare” by closing highways and stopping trains headed into the city.
“You have to start looking at the idea of the metropolis is what actually furthers and enables global capitalism and the modern state,” Carrefour said. “The reason why Black Lives Matter started blocking highways was because highways and the normal functioning of the city is actually intrinsic to things like racism.”
If your left eye is twitching now, you’re not alone.
So a city running smoothly promotes racism, or something.
At some point, you have to look at these protesters and come to the sad realization that they’ve lapsed into parody, except they’re the only ones not in on the joke.
The second component includes preventing people from attending the inauguration festivities by blockading each checkpoint to attend the inauguration. Carrefour said various groups coordinating with #DisruptJ20 are spearheading that effort, and individual checkpoints will have protesters championing various causes such as climate change and Black Lives Matter.
So, basically, a mutated goulash of stupidity.
This part is interesting:
The human barriers created by the protesters will vary from checkpoint to checkpoint, meaning some protesters may simply stand in the way of people looking to enter while other protesters may look to do “technical lockdowns.” Technical lockdowns include such actions as the “sleeping dragon” in which two people stick their arms in PVC piping and then someone else chains or cements the inside so that removing the protesters would involve breaking their arms.
Sounds tempting.
Then of course, there’s the old tried-and-true marches. There are several of those planned, with one beginning at noon at Columbus Circle, heading towards McPherson Square, where they’ll meet for a rally of whining and assorted, mindless nonsense.
Permits have been received by the National Park Service for three separate protest groups for McPherson Square for January 20, 2017.
While the Columbus Circle march will feature like-minded liberals unhappy with Trump, a separate “anti-capitalist” march that Carrefour said would be more “confrontational” will start from Logan Circle at 9 a.m. and go wherever it pleases. The Logan Circle march has no permit.
Confrontational? What’s more confrontational that being a public nuisance and blocking traffic? Or yelling at passers-by with bullhorns, waving dumb signs in their faces, and screaming at the police?
The day won’t be without the pro-Trump crowd to pump up the tensions.
“Let America Hear Us, Roar for Trump” is the pro-Trump group that will have approximately 500 Trump supporters, ready to counter anything being brought by the anarchists.
This particular demonstration will go on near Dupont Circle.
Carrefour says they don’t anticipate any trouble with the pro-Trump crowd, and have not instructed their people to start fights, but that they are prepared to deal with that possibility.
They have two legal teams ready: One to identify which protesters are being jailed, and one to help get them out of lockup.
In the meantime, their website offers legal guidance for participants.
After the marches, Carrefour said the #DisruptJ20 protesters will be “going to all the inaugural balls and ruining them.”
Jackasses.
Carrefour further says that perpetuating a lasting momentum of rage is the goal.
Not exactly helpful or solutions-oriented, but then, that’s what they do. They cause trouble and are happy to do it.
“If honestly the headline the next day is ‘Trump inaugurated to thunderous applause, no trouble happens’ that would be a failure,” Carrefour said. “I don’t think that’s going to happen.”
And this is the new normal.
Somebody get Carrefour’s parents on the phone. The kid wasn’t hugged enough as a child.
