Barack Obama was in Ohio and Michigan on Saturday trying to drum up support for Democrats ahead of the midterm elections.
As we reported about the Ohio event, Obama attacked President Donald Trump's work to repair things at the White House.
Former President Barack Obama criticized President Trump’s ongoing White House renovations, saying that it looks “like Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory” as he returned to the campaign trail in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday to back the state’s Democratic candidates ahead… pic.twitter.com/7q5VZHqgdj

Obama continued:
“I mean, I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but he seems very focused on home renovations,” Obama said. “He should be on HGTV.”
The ex prez then went for the zinger: “He’s got the White House looking like Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory.”
He even misleadingly claimed that Trump had "paved over the Rose Garden." Trump put in tile in the middle of the garden, replacing the grass that had been there so that people would be able to walk on it and not in a muddy mess. He did not pave over the "rose garden" part of the area, which was on either side of the grassy area. Indeed, First Lady Melania Trump helped to restore the roses to their former glory.
Obama repeated the same line while he was on the stump, speaking for Democrats in Michigan as well.
But this line Obama clearly thinks is so clever is hilarious for so many reasons.
He wants to talk about building things and renovations? So can we talk about that monstrosity that he's responsible for in Chicago - the Obama Presidential Center?
The guy who designed this wizard prison for himself has thoughts on aesthetics? https://t.co/8YzQjW1rmD

It looks like some Soviet dystopian nightmare, so perhaps it is appropriate as a monument to his legacy. Not only is it breathtakingly ugly, but it was also incredibly expensive, and, like everything having to do with Barack Obama, cost far more than the original estimate. It even reached $1 billion, triple its original estimate. How could one building cost that much?
On top of that, it even earned neighborhood protesters for a host of reasons, and contractors were left unpaid. So, seriously, he's the last person who should be talking about anyone else's renovations.
Then, too, when he was president and did "renovations," he had a big failure. He tried to repair the Reflecting Pool, too - but it continued to leak, which continued to cost us money.
Once again, something Trump had to clean up after him. It seems to be a theme, just like having to deal with the dangerous Iran nuclear situation that Obama left hanging in the wind after he propped up the mullahs with the "Iran deal." He also did renovations to the White House that were estimated to have cost taxpayers $376 million.
It's just a snotty comment about the Cheesecake Factory, which most Americans like. He thinks he's free to crack on it; he's probably never even been in one.
Classic Obama snobbery. Cheesecake Factory is a great option for people who can’t afford a private chef at their Martha’s Vineyard estate.

But it also exposes how clueless and elitist he is. Sorry, Barack, we can't all live in our Martha's Vineyard mansions and have private chefs (who end up dying).
That just goes to show you @CBSNews that Barack Obama hates working class Americans who eat at reasonably priced restaurants. Obama has probably never been into a Cheesecake Factory. Wait till you see this backfire as it’s trending that @BarackObama is a snob.

And can we talk about his general disregard for the Resolute Desk in the White House?
I have seen someone put their feet up on the table at a Cheesecake Factory, @BarackObama pic.twitter.com/hEfxgY5dNp

How dare Trump try to improve the White House and fix it up?
But the other clueless thing here is Democrat Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed isn't running against Trump; he's running against GOP nominee Mike Rogers. And what does any of that have to do with the Senate race in Michigan? The problem is that El-Sayed and Obama's positions on the issues are even worse. So they're stuck deflecting to such attacks. And at this point, people are tired of this same line of "attack Trump" for more than 10 years while having no good policies.
