Democrats Raise Concerns About Trump's Transition Process, Conflicts of Interest

This is just par for the course.

Politics.

As reported by the Washington Examiner, Democrats intend to make Trump labor with every step to the White House.

Congressional Democrats have asked the Government Accountability Office to review President-elect Trump’s transition for a conflict of interest related to Trump’s business, “violations of protocol and national security concerns.”

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., sent the letter Wednesday to the GAO, citing reports of “disarray” in Trump’s transition process.

Their concerns may not be without merit, as Trump has made some questionable moves, already.

Trump has stated that his children will be handling the business. While that’s what needs to happen, he still allowed his daughter, Ivanka, to sit in on a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. That could potentially create a conflict of interests. If she’s to be an adviser, assure she’s cut from dealing with the Trump business, but if she’s going to run the business, she shouldn’t be sitting in on meetings with world leaders.

It was also reported that he discussed business with at least one foreign leader – and not the business of government, but of Trump.

Warren and Cummings said they believe the GAO scrutiny of Trump is justified because $9.5 million in federal funding is provided for the transition process.

“Mr. Trump’s apparent conflicts of interest — and his behavior during the campaign and after his election — raise questions about the use of taxpayer funds during the transition, and about the decisions made during the transition that will affect federal government policies under the Trump administration,” the lawmakers wrote in the letter to GAO.

So if he’s taking government money, he needs to be put under a microscope.

I don’t disagree with this, actually.

I just wish Democrats would get behind this kind of scrutiny for everybody taking government funds.
