That Democrat presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris has trouble appealing to men is hardly a secret. Her appeal to men was so deficient that Tim Walz was chosen to be her running mate over Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro because Walz was perceived as more of a "man's man." If you are a man and lose a comparison like that, you might as well opt for sex change surgery.
“They saw him as a man’s man, and I think the idea was that he is somebody who could connect with these very alienated male voters who feel that the trend of national policy in recent years has been very much tilted in favor of women,” [Ross K. Baker, a professor of political science at Rutgers University] said.
To understand the scope of the problem, we need to look at the last two presidential elections.
As a baseline for comparison, in 2016, Donald Trump won 46.1% of the vote (306 electoral votes) and Hillary Clinton won 48.2% (232 electoral votes). Men went for Trump 52 to 41 percent (11 points), while women voted for Hillary by 54 to 39 percent (15 points).
There was a similar effect in 2020. Trump won the male vote by 53 to 45 percent (8 points), and Biden won the female vote by 57 to 42 percent (15 points) while losing the election by 46.8% to 51/3% and the electoral college vote 232 to 306.

With the 2024 campaign entering its final days, Walz has been sent out on a one-man blitz to win men for Harris; see Walz to launch media blitz to woo male voters - POLITICO.
Faced with a serious polling deficit among young men, Harris’ campaign is sending the Minnesota governor on a man-focused media blitz on Friday, including football-focused TV interviews and pheasant hunting with digital influencers, according to details shared first with POLITICO.
It’ll start with a one-on-one interview with ABC Good Morning America’s Michael Strahan, a former NFL football player, at the University of Minnesota’s football stadium, airing on Friday morning. In the sitdown, the pair will discuss how Walz’s coaching career prepared him for politics and will feature some of his former students. Walz will also appear in a round of local TV interviews in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin — which the campaign hopes will center on high school football and hunting. In Michigan, later on Friday, Walz will headline a voter engagement event with Black men.
Then, the governor will return to Minnesota, where he’ll deliver the pep talk to Mankato West’s football team, his former football squad, ahead of their game against rivals Mankato East. And on Saturday morning, Walz will take a group of social media influencers, including veterans advocate David Boomer and a Black rodeo star Ramontay McConnell, pheasant hunting in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota.
What we're seeing at this point is that Kamala would've been better off if she'd done nothing. Walz's appearance on what should've been a friendly show went pear-shaped in epic fashion; see Walz Crashes and Burns During Strahan Interview in Epically Bad Fashion – RedState. Apparently, Walz survived the "pheasant hunting with digital influencers" without going full-metal Dick Cheney on someone, so maybe all is not lost.
Let's face it: Kamala's body language and facial expressions remind every man of an ex-girlfriend or ex-wife. Tim Walz has all the masculinity of Elton John, and he gives off a creepy vibe. If you're a White guy, a vote for Kamala guarantees that a DEI regime will block you from employment and promotion.
Kamala's problem isn't just with White men. Twenty-six percent of Black men under 50 are voting for Trump. The problem there is so severe and so existential to Kamala's campaign that Barack Obama was sent out to hector them into voting the way they were told: Obama Gets Honest About Kamala's Big Problem, Shows How Desperate Dems Are – RedState and Turns Out Those Obama Remarks Got Worse—He Even Insults Black Men Who Are on the Fence About Kamala – RedState.
Unless Kamala can do something to bring the "gender gap" back into sync with where it was in 2020, her campaign is dead in the water. Whatever that something might be, it definitely doesn't include sending Tim Walz out to appeal to men.
