Yesterday brought the announcement that a handful of corrupt Ohio Democrats had been indicted for being, well, corrupt. And it also brought us another energetic round of “Name That Party,” a parlor game in which a corrupt official is arrested or indicted and we, the contestants, try to find a hint of which party to which they belong.
From the Youngstown Vindicator:
Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Timothy McGinty announced a 83-count indictment against Youngstown Mayor John A. McNally, Mahoning County Auditor Michael Sciortino and Youngstown attorney Marty Yavorcik.
DeWine and McGinty this afternoon in Cleveland announced the results of a grand jury investigation into Mahoning County political corruption. It is a 63-page indictment by a Cuyahoga County grand jury on charges related to public corruption in the period of January 2005 to July 2009.
Read it all. We’re still in the dark.
From WKYC
Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Tim McGinty have announced that indictments have come down against Youngstown Mayor John A. McNally IV, Youngstown attorney Martin Yavorcik and Mahoning County Auditor Michael V. Sciortino.
All were charged in a criminal conspiracy
The indictments are on criminal corruption charges. They include racketeering, money laundering, bribery, perjury, tampering with records, telecommunications fraud and theft in office.
Not helpful.
The mayor of Youngstown and the Mahoning County auditor were indicted Wednesday in a massive corruption indictment including accusations of bribes, lies in legal proceedings and illegal campaign funds.
A Cuyahoga County grand jury indicted Mayor John McNally on charges of racketeering, conspiracy, perjury, theft in office, bribery and money laundering involving his work as a Mahoning County commissioner, a job he held from 2005 through last December.
Mahoning County Auditor Michael Sciortino was charged with racketeering, conspiracy, perjury, theft in office, bribery, money laundering and tampering with records. He and McNally are Democrats.
And we have a winner.
