New: USAID's Secret Signal Chats Document Plot Against U.S. Leadership

OK, now I'm not wild-eyed conspiracy theorist, but having a bunch of disgruntled former USAID employees talking in a Signal chat about "tackling corruption" is more than disconcerting, it's downright unsettling. This appears to be Trump Derangement Syndrome mobilizing for battle.

Watch: Sean Duffy Wrecks Katie Porter With Ideal Response to Her Attack Over Air Travel

Porter wants to be governor of California, but she doesn't even grasp the first thing about the issue before launching an unfounded attack. "Join the fight," she said at the end of her video. Join what? Being incredibly wrong? And a pro tip? The video close-ups are not a good idea.

Bipartisan Deal to End the Schumer Shutdown Passes Senate, Heads to House for Vote

Eight Democrats joined with a majority of Republicans to get the final vote count to 60. Those Democrats were Dirk Durbin of Illinois, Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire, Angus King of Maine (technically an Independent but caucuses with the Democrats), Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada, Tim Kaine of Virginia, Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire, John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, and Jacky Rosen of Nevada.

About the Safety Mamdani Promised on Those Free Buses

It's just a shame that those who didn't vote for it are still bound by the draconian rules against concealed carry that might actually let them protect themselves and others. Sure, they can carry, but mostly it's only in theory.

Liberals Angry and Horrified That SNAP Benefits Are Being Restored

That's why restoring SNAP funding is such a loss in their eyes. They WANT the suffering to get worse. They want the air travel system to collapse. They want to maximize the pain.

Here’s How Obamacare Really Works, and It’s Disgusting

And make no mistake, Democrats will defend this broken system at any cost.

Did This Senator Say the Quiet Part Out Loud About Why the Schumer Shutdown Is Failing

For now, props to the GOP for essentially getting what they wanted all along. Democrats shut down the works for nothing. They got nothing. They got exactly what Republicans initially offered, so this whole show was an unnecessary exercise in inflicting pain upon American families.

Unsportsmanlike Conduct: Trump Takes in an NFL Game and Lefties Lose Their Ever Lovin' Minds

As it turns out, Trump daring to enjoy an afternoon at a football game was just the start of the Democrats' no good, terrible, very bad night.

WHAT'S ON TAP?

Today on Capitol Hill...

Oh, the drama! After 40 long days, the Senate finally managed to cobble together a deal to end the Schumer Shutdown. Even then, the vote lasted well into Sunday night as Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), the final vote, didn't land at Dulles airport until roughly 10:00 PM Eastern. But they managed to get the 60 votes needed.

We're not yet clear on what time they'll hold the official final vote, but it's expected sometime on Monday. The measure will then go back to the House for approval.

White House What's Up

President Trump is back at the White House after a weekend at Mar-a-Lago. On Monday, he'll meet with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa. Later in the afternoon, he'll participate in the swearing-in ceremony for Sergio Gor as the Ambassador to the Republic of India.

Full Court Press...

There are two more cases being heard before the Supreme Court on Monday:

  1. Landor v. Louisiana Dept. of Corrections — Whether an individual may sue a government official in his individual capacity for damages for violations of RLUIPA (Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act of 2000).
  2. The GEO Group Inc. v. Menocal — Whether an order denying a government contractor's claim of derivative sovereign immunity is immediately appealable under the collateral-order doctrine.

Much of the most recent court activity concerns the SNAP benefits case out of Rhode Island  — all of which may be largely moot by sometime later this week.

  • ❌ Rhode Island State Council of Churches v. Rollins (SNAP benefits) — 1st Circuit Court of Appeals DENIES admin's request for administrative stay.
  • ❌ State of Oregon v. Trump (National Guard deployment) — Judge Karin Immergut (Oregon) issues partial final judgment granting permanent injunction re: NG federalization/deployment.
  • ✅ Rhode Island State Council of Churches v. Rollins (SNAP benefits) — SCOTUS grants admin's application for administrative stay.
  • Rhode Island State Council of Churches v. Rollins (SNAP benefits) — 1st Circuit Court of Appeals denies admin's application for stay pending appeal.

MORNING MUSING

I can't help it — having spent the first 35-or-so years of my life a Democrat, I still have a weird soft spot for the donks, as wrong-headed as they are on so many issues. Don't get me wrong — that doesn't mean I want them winning elections (especially not with the far-left fringe leading the way) — but there's still that part of me that wishes the sane segment of the party would find its footing and get back to advocating for sound policy proposals that don't simply amount to: Oppose the Bad Orange Man at all costs.

But when I take a step back and look at the past 40 days of Schumer Shutdown shenanigans, it ticks me off. What was it all for? What did they genuinely hope to accomplish — and what did they accomplish — by holding the nation hostage for a month-and-a-half? Aside from mucking up air travel and SNAP benefits, that is.

Of course the legacy media will continue to carry water for the Dems and attempt to shift all the blame onto the Republicans — it's how they do. But I find the Dems' cynical ploy with this despicable and almost unforgivable. Screw the whole country over to make a point that they didn't even manage to make? Gross.

My former party has truly lost its way — and in the long run, that's not really good for anyone.
