There are no dead martyrs yet, but that may be coming. In the meantime, maybe one small teenage girl will provide the push needed to unleash the rage of an oppressed people.

Marco Rubio Has Cabinet Meeting in Stitches Over Labor Day Comment (Video)

Rubio, of course, has taken on a few side gigs to complement his main role leading the State Department (he was the first Cabinet secretary to be confirmed, with his nomination having passed the Senate on Inauguration Day).

It's a race to the bottom amongst the so-called leaders of the Democrat Party, isn't it?

WHAT'S ON TAP?

Today on Capitol Hill...

I have to hand it to the Dems, even while they're on this extended recess, they continue to be the gift that keeps on giving. Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) decided that he'd take the "Crime is part of our history" route in order to oppose the Trump administration's law enforcement efforts.

On a (truly) positive note, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) welcomed the news of a resolution for 10 FBI whistleblowers after facing years of retaliation.

White House What's Up

President Trump held a marathon Cabinet meeting on Tuesday — and managed to play a significant role in Cracker Barrel's decision to forego its rebranding efforts.

On Wednesday, he'll have lunch with Vice President JD Vance.

Keeping Up With the Cabinet

I've not been able to keep this section going of late due to time constraints, but I aim to get it back up and running. As noted above, Tuesday featured an hours-long Cabinet meeting, so we got to hear from each of the Cabinet members, but once again proving he's worth his weight in gold, Secretary of State Marco Rubio won the Good Humor award with his well-timed Labor Day joke.

Full Court Press...

Tuesday was a busy day in the courts. We had a Trump-appointed district court judge dismissing the administration's suit against the judges of the Maryland District Court over the court's standing order regarding habeas cases.

Then there was the federal judge in Wisconsin who denied Judge Hannah Dugan's bid to dismiss the criminal charges against her for interfering with ICE's efforts to detain an illegal immigrant.

We also got a peek into the massive bias exhibited by an Obama-appointed judge in Florida regarding Alligator Alcatraz.

COMING ATTRACTIONS

On Thursday, Vice President JD Vance will visit a steel fabrication facility in La Crosse, Wisconsin. "The Vice President will deliver remarks highlighting President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill and the historic tax cuts it delivered for working families and businesses."

MORNING MUSING

I don't believe I've ever seen (or read) "The Ugly American," but I've long been aware of it — and the accompanying notion of arrogant, ignorant, self-absorbed Americans rudely expecting to be accommodated on their terms while traveling abroad. I've not done much traveling abroad myself — a couple of day trips into Canada and a brief stint in Cancun, Mexico, are all I can claim — yet, even then, I was keenly aware (and self-conscious) about not behaving in that stereotypical fashion.

When I'm a guest or visitor, I try to mind my manners, and I don't find that at all controversial. Just as many enjoy extending hospitality as gracious hosts, it seems to me most reasonable folks would aim to be gracious guests. He may be good for comic relief, but no one genuinely aims to be Cousin Eddie.

As noted, I haven't traveled abroad extensively, but I cannot imagine going to any other country and not being mindful of the fact that I am a guest, and customs and rules and expectations are different there than what I am used to — and that it's on me to adapt to them while I'm there, and to assimilate if I wish to stay.

So when I saw the above tweet from Elon Musk, it prompted me to wonder: If Americans have a reputation for being "ugly" when traveling based on their entitled attitude, what do you call it when someone comes to America from elsewhere and exhibits their own arrogant, ethnocentric behavior? Is it only rude/wrong when Americans behave like that?
