Victory for Team Commonsense: Woman Wins Huge Settlement After Calling Out Transgender Insanity
Chalk up another win for team commonsense after 82-year-old Julie Jaman won a $65,000 settlement because she refused to be quiet about a man being in her women’s locker room and was subsequently banned from using her local YMCA pool in Washington.

WHAT'S ON TAP?
Today on Capitol Hill...
With the significant Senate hurdle cleared yesterday, the One Big Beautiful Bill (sorry, Chuck — we're still going to call it that) now faces the challenge of final passage in the House. Not only does Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) need to herd the cats metaphorically, but he literally has to get them all back to D.C. despite weather delays.
Joe Cunningham laid out the possible paths forward after Tuesday's Senate vote.

House leadership has chosen Option No. 1: accepting the Senate version as-is. Understandably, many House members aren't at all keen on that. Here's where things stand at present: The House Rules Committee approved the "rule" (i.e., how debating and voting will be handled) for OBBB overnight — narrowly. The plan is for the House to be back in session at 9:00 AM and to vote as soon thereafter as possible — first, on the rule (which had two "no" votes — Chip Roy (R-TX) and Ralph Norman (R-SC) out of the committee Tuesday night), then, if that passes, on the measure itself after an hour of debate.
Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN) has now laid out the anticipated timeline:
NEW — House GOP leadership is projecting a procedural vote in the 9a hour. Rule vote in the 11a hour. And a TBD on final passage. pic.twitter.com/MTDbwef6WP

We will, of course, be watching closely and report on any notable developments.
White House What's Up
President Donald Trump has nothing formal on his schedule for Wednesday, though we can expect he'll be keeping an eye on things in the House and working the phones if necessary. In fact, as I was writing this, Punchbowl's Jake Sherman confirmed there will be multiple meetings today with House Republicans.
Full Court Press...
We're still waiting to see what the Supreme Court will do in some of those Emergency Docket cases, but there was an interesting ruling this morning out of the Western District of Texas: Remember all the hubbub when a Colorado judge (Gordon Gallagher) initially granted the family of Boulder firebomber Mohamed Soliman a temporary restraining order against their removal from the country? Well, that case subsequently got transferred to Texas, and, after initially extending the TRO to sort out the situation, Judge Orlando Garcia has now dismissed their case for lack of jurisdiction. (Essentially, he's saying this needs to be/is being handled by the immigration court/proceedings.)
⚖️ In Dvortsin v. Noem (habeas/removal of Boulder firebomber's family), Judge Orlando Garcia (Western District of Texas) DISMISSES petitioners' habeas/injunctive relief petition for lack of jurisdiction. [This is a GOOD read on INA procedure if you're interested.]…

Also in the criminal trial of Sean "Diddy" Combs, we learned Tuesday afternoon that the jury had reached a verdict on four of the five counts but were hung up on the first count (the RICO violation). The judge instructed them to continue deliberating. We likely will see a verdict come in on that one sometime on Wednesday.
COMING ATTRACTIONS
Of course, we're looking forward to all of the Fourth of July celebrations — and President Trump signing off on his OBBB.
Next week, he'll host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House.
MORNING MUSING
Part of getting to be my age is waxing nostalgic — frequently. I'm biased, I realize, but as a Gen-Xer, I can't help but reflect on those days growing up in the 70s and 80s and believing those really were the best of times in many ways. I find myself longing for that sense that all was right with the world — or right enough to allow us to live in it and not constantly feel as though we're carrying the weight of it on us. Some of that, of course, was simply being young and not having the responsibilities of adulthood. Not all of it, though. In many respects, those were the days.
But I was reminded this morning that these are the days, too. Oh, there's plenty wrong in the world — sometimes it's overwhelming to contemplate it all — but there's a lot that's right, too, and we'd do well to embrace and appreciate that while we're able to. Because it's likely that 20 or 30 years from now, we'll be waxing nostalgic for these days as well.
