Turns out, if Rick wanted to see what a boomer rube looked like, all he had to do was step over the cats, turn on the lights in his "very quiet" house, and look in a mirror.

Schumer Makes Accidental Admission About GOP Town Hall Agitators and the Trump DOJ Should Take Notice

Thanks to Chuck Schumer for once again opening his mouth and inserting his foot and in the process giving Republicans another tailor-made ad to run in the 2026 midterms. Nice work, buddy. Keep it up.

Showdown at Foggy Bottom: DOGE Uses Police to Evict Barricaded Bureaucrats

USIP bureaucrats filed a lawsuit to regain control of the building. However, by some miracle, the judge turned them away even though she was "very offended by how DOGE has operated at the institute.”

Strange Things Afoot at the New York Times

Two of the nation's leading newspapers are seemingly done hitting the hard anti-gun position, at least in some regards. The Times, in particular, is making a concerted effort to be fair with regard to gun owners, gun rights, and gun politics in general.

Trans Violence Is a Real Thing, and It Is Out of Control

There are no hunting parties of trans people, but the propagandists keep telling trans people there are.

The result is this: an epidemic of violence by trans people. I fear it will get worse before it calms down

Here Are the Two Words From Joe Biden That Haunted Kamala Harris

“No daylight” was the mantra, and Mr. Biden expected Harris to protect his legacy as opposed to do what she needed to define herself to voters, who knew little about why she was even running for president.

FAKE NEWS: Pete Hegseth BLASTS New York Times About Elon Musk and 'Secret Chinese War Plans'

Maggie Haberman and the rest of the hacks at The New York Times can try to incite panic all they want. But Musk turning DOGE loose on the Pentagon is exactly what Americans voted for.

WHAT'S ON TAP?

Today on Capitol Hill...

It's the home stretch of the critters' spring break. They'll be back at it on the Hill next week when there are plenty of hearings and meetings planned. Will we see bills introduced to revisit the jurisdiction of the lower federal courts? I suspect so — I've already seen several members of Congress propose just that.

White House What's Up

On Friday, President Donald Trump is set to deliver remarks, along with Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, late morning. In the evening, he's heading to Bedminster, New Jersey. (On Saturday, he's set to attend the NCAA wrestling tournament in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.)

Keeping Up With the Cabinet

Sec. State - Marco Rubio — Rubio celebrated the return of George Glezmann, who'd been held by the Taliban for over two years.

Sec. Defense - Pete Hegseth — Hegseth and Pentagon spox Sean Parnell pushed back at the New York Times for its lies.

Attorney General - Pam Bondi — Bondi's DOJ has been busy, announcing charges against three individuals suspected of arson attacks against Tesla properties and against former Rep. Cori Bush's (D-MO) husband for COVID fraud.

Sec. Transportation - Sean Duffy — Duffy's taking New York Governor Kathy Hochul to task over cordon pricing.

Sec. Education - Linda McMahon — As expected, McMahon was ordered by President Trump on Thursday "to take 'all necessary steps to facilitate the closure of the Department of Education and return education authority to the states.'"

Full Court Press...

While we await the Supreme Court taking meaningful action on the multitude of cases burbling up from the lower courts regarding the Trump administration, they did, on Thursday, deny certiorari on several applications to stay death sentence executions. They're also set to take up a new set of oral arguments beginning Monday.

COMING ATTRACTIONS

As noted yesterday, one of the hearings set before Congress next week should be of particular interest: The House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence has announced an "open full committee hearing on 2025 Annual Worldwide Threats Assessment" next Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. Eastern. Scheduled witnesses include Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, FBI Director Kash Patel, NSA Director General Timothy Haugh, and DIA Director Lieutenant General Jeffrey Kruse.

MORNING MUSING

As much as the phrase "They've lost the plot" gets overused these days, it does seem to apply to the federal district courts of late — at least those who see it as their primary mission to rein the president (Trump, that is, not just any president) in rather than to follow the law. Trump isn't perfect and, as I've noted before, his administration may not get every move right — there may be instances in which they do overstep their bounds and a court temporarily pressing pause to sort things out and even ultimately ruling that there should be some limiting parameters placed is appropriate.

But I'm starting to believe we're seeing a concerted effort by at least some of these judges to push the administration to the point of outright defiance with outlandish rulings so that can then be spun as Trump being an out-of-control dictator — maybe subject to impeachment. Grousing aside, he's played it wisely so far. But it's well past time for the Courts of Appeals and, ultimately, the Supreme Court to step up and clip these district court judges' wings — not via some tepidly worded statement to the ether, but by taking up the applications and appeals that are coming their way and lowering the boom. Enough is enough.
