I’ll admit it: I’m pretty hard on Joe Biden. I’d contend that’s for good reason: A) He holds arguably the most powerful job in the world; and B) He’s doing it wrong – like, almost the exact opposite of what I’d be advising him to do — and not even gracefully or graciously.
That said, I do believe the man should be able to dine with his wife in peace. The ladies of CODEPINK obviously disagree with me, as they determined it appropriate to begin shouting out to the president, urging him to end the war in Ukraine, as well as the blockade of Cuba, as he and Jill attempted to have dinner in a Washington D.C. restaurant Saturday evening.

The First Amendment guarantees our right to petition the Government to redress our grievances, and if anyone is the face of government and deserving of being on the receiving end of those petitions, it’s the president. But I’m of the mind that there’s a time and a place for everything — and interrupting someone’s dinner isn’t it. Maybe that’s because I’m a foodie, but that’s a firm rule in my book.
Unlike many on the left, however, I believe that should be the case whether the official in question is on my side of the partisan divide or not.
So, I say, let Joe eat his cake – or ice cream.
