I’ve mentioned this before – I’m a little bit country, and I’m a little bit rock ‘n roll (and clearly, a child of the 70s).

I’ve done the 23&Me testing and discovered that I’m a little bit West African and Ashkenazi Jew – in addition to being overwhelmingly Euro-mutt.

Recently, I learned that I’m also a little bit fascist. Which is serious news to me, given my understanding of what the term means. Merriam Webster (at least as of Tuesday) defines it as a political philosophy that: “exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.” Which pretty much describes the opposite of me.

But Joe Biden, wizard and great uniter that he is, tells me otherwise. You see, our not-at-all divisive and autocratic Commander-in-Chief has declared that those who support his predecessor and the ideals of making America great again are semi-fascists. So, as someone who voted for Trump in 2020 and applauds the notion of American exceptionalism, I suppose that makes me a quarter-fascist?

Well, anyway, I’m at least a little bit fascist…in Bidenese. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go threaten democracy.
