NYPD Releases Photos of Suspects in Snowball-Pelting Incident As Mamdani's 'Kids' Narrative Implodes

We reported earlier on the ridiculous and insulting answer New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani gave when asked about a Monday incident where agitators pelted members of the NYPD with snowballs on city streets in what NYC Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch described as "criminal" acts that were being investigated.

The backstory centers around how a snowball fight was organized in advance for Washington Square Park by some random folks after the worst of the blizzard had moved on. Some in the crowd, however, were allegedly going too far and causing a disturbance. After a report was called in, the NYPD came to check things out, which is when they got hit with so many snowballs to the point that they decided to leave instead of further confronting the mob.

Videos clearly showed the officers getting hit by snowballs thrown by adults, not children. Multiple officers had to get treated at a nearby hospital, with at least two sustaining lacerations to the face, according to local reports.  The NY Post noted that a law enforcement source told them that "One officer suffered a possible contusion behind his eye, while another had a headache from getting hit in the back of the head."

But the officers' injuries didn't stop Mamdani from saying in so many words that it was a harmless "snowball fight" involving just kids being kids, and that he didn't agree that any criminal offenses had been committed.

Understandably, local police groups are outraged over what happened, with the Police Benevolent Association demanding arrests and tweeting that "this is the environment that NYC police officers are up against."

"The individuals involved must be identified, arrested, and charged with assault on a police officer. And all of our city leaders must speak up to condemn this despicable attack," they went on to write.

Fortunately, Mamdani's predictable lack of support for the men and women who put their lives on the line every day in the Big Apple only served to fuel the NYPD's appetite for justice, as on Tuesday afternoon, they released the first close-up images of suspects they say took part in the pelting, and asked for the public's help:

Wanted for ASSAULT ON A POLICE OFFICER: On 2/23/26 at approximately 4:20 PM, two uniformed police officers were inside Washington Square Park when two individuals intentionally struck the officers multiple times with snow and ice causing injury to their head, neck, and face. Anyone with information is asked to contact @NYPDTips or 800-577-TIPS.

So much for the "kids" narrative. Not that it was ever credible in the first place.

Memo to Mayor Mamdani: This is what a harmless snowball fight involving children looks like:

This isn't:

There is a strong possibility that more suspects will get added to the list, depending on what other facial images they can make out from the various video clips that are circulating. Stay tuned.
