Mamdani Responds to Agitators Hurling Snowballs at NYPD, Immediately Makes It Even Worse

You know, Zohran Mamdani might not be able to shovel snow, but one thing he knows how to shovel and shovel well is BS, a skill that helped make him victorious in the New York City Democrat mayoral primary in June 2025 and then a few months later on Election Day.

Two months into his tenure, one of the most recognizable members of the Democrat Socialists of America Party is still doing it, as evidenced by his reaction to the disgusting incident from Monday that saw anti-police agitators hurling snowballs at NYPD officers after the blizzard had moved on, with the snowballs injuring "multiple" officers, some of who reportedly had to get treated at the hospital for lacerations to the face.

Before we get to that, let's give a little backstory and videos for those who missed it, just to really drive the point home of how insulting and infuriating Mamdani's response to it was.

Apparently, a snowball fight was organized to take place in Washington Square Park in advance, but some in the crowd were allegedly taking it too far. That prompted calls to have the NYPD come check things out, which is when they got pelted to the point that it appears they decided to leave rather than continue on:

Mamdani's response? To boil it down to it merely being "kids" being kids:

At a press conference held earlier, Mamdani, who was not wearing the custom-designed Carhartt winter coat he had on two weeks ago, continued with the "kids" theme and said he disagreed with any calls for those who hurled the snowballs at officers to be charged with a crime:

Mamdani was asked whether he agreed with NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch that the incident in Washington Square Park on Monday was “criminal.”

[...]

PBA President Patrick Hendry called it “unacceptable and outrageous,” saying, “The individuals involved must be identified, arrested and charged with assault on a police officer. And all of our city leaders must speak up to condemn this despicable attack.”

But Hizzoner disagreed.

“I don’t from the videos that I’ve seen,” Mamdani told reporters when pressed about comments from the PBA. “It looks like a snowball fight.”

When asked how he knew those involved were “kids” — as footage appeared to show adults taking part — Mamdani just said: “I can just tell you from the video I saw, it looked like kids in a snowball fight.”

Um, no. It wasn't "kids" causing injuries to police officers, and it wasn't a mere snowball fight between the people and the officers because the pelting was only coming from one direction, and the officers were clearly overwhelmed.

Imagine being an NYPD officer, having to be out in this weather and face this kind of abuse, and then having Mamdani add insult to injury by acting like it was harmless fun involving children.

It's certainly not the first time they've been outrageously disrespected by Mamdani and anti-police types in the city for the apparent crime of wanting to serve and protect, and it won't be the last. So if you're a Big Apple resident and you happen to see one on the street, make sure to thank them for all that they do because the job of an NYPD police officer truly appears to be a thankless one on most days.
