On Saturday, RedState reported on a mass stabbing incident that happened at a Traverse City, Michigan, Walmart in which a man began randomly lunging at people with a "folding-style knife" in hand just before 5 p.m. local time.
Eleven people were injured after the suspect, now identified as 42-year-old Afton man, Bradford James Gille, began his rampage near the checkout lines.
According to Grand Traverse County Sheriff Michael D. Shea, "citizen involvement" was critical in apprehending the suspect. "This was a joint effort all the way through to, as I mentioned, the citizens, and thankfully, no one else was injured," Shea noted during a Saturday evening presser.

As we also reported, that citizen involvement included bystanders and an armed man cornering Gille and demanding he drop the weapon shortly before sheriff's deputies arrived.

The hero who pointed his gun at the suspect has also been identified and is being applauded as a man who, along with the others who backed him up, undoubtedly saved lives:
In wild cellphone footage shared on X, the brave man, identified by family members as Marine veteran Derrick Perry, is seen yelling at the suspected attacker to drop the weapon in the parking lot of the superstore in Traverse City, about 255 miles northwest of Detroit.
Perry is being praised for his actions, with some even suggesting he should be nominated for the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
“Give this man the recognition his actions deserve,” one commenter said. “Good men who are armed save lives.”
Perry’s own daughter also chimed in. She wrote on Facebook that his heroism is a “proud daughter moment” for her. His daughter-in-law added that the veteran is a “true hero.”

This is the kind of courage that deserves recognition.

Strangely, the anti-Second Amendment Democrats like Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) and Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA), who, in the past, have characterized the "good guy with a gun" theory as a myth and baseless gun rights talking point, are awfully quiet regarding what unfolded Saturday. Presumably, Murphy is preoccupied with making sure his beard is growing just right. And as for Swalwell, well, my colleague Rusty Weiss has a cringe update on that one.
Thankfully, all of the victims are expected to survive.
Gille, a homeless man who authorities in another county had already been looking for per a court order between Friday night and early Saturday, is facing terrorism and assault with intent to murder charges. A motive has yet to be determined.
