What kind of garbage human being sits around and waits for the opportunity to take appalling cheap shots against good guys with guns in the aftermath of a mass shooting?
A failed presidential candidate like Rep. Eric Swalwell (CA), that’s who.
The day after the horrific random mass shooting Saturday in Midland and Odessa, TX that left 7 dead and 22 injured, Swalwell quote-retweeted a post from 2020 presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke regarding the type of weapon the Odessa/Midland shooter used.
Here’s what Beto tweeted:
Buy them all back. https://t.co/bnQNIwW876
— Beto O'Rourke (@BetoORourke) September 1, 2019
Swalwell responded that he agreed with O’Rourke on his proposal to confiscate all types of so-called “weapons of war” guns via a forced buyback program:
Beto is spot on. If you believe assault weapons are dangerous, it’s irresponsible to support a ban on future sales but grandfather in possession of the 15 million already in our communities. Either they’re dangerous & should be taken off the streets or don’t ban them at all. https://t.co/2Iv686AIMT

A Twitter user replied to Swalwell’s tweet with a suggestion on how to prevent future mass shootings:
We need to support open carry. This will stop all these mass shootings

It was in response to that tweet that Swalwell chose to cut loose on “good guys with guns”:
Big shout out to all the civilian “good guys with guns” who saved lives in Odessa. You know who you are. Thanks a million.
*btw, Texas IS an open carry state. https://t.co/cWTeyEkBrC
— Rep. Eric Swalwell (@RepSwalwell) September 1, 2019
A lot of people took issue with Swalwell’s gutter swipe, including the NRSC’s Matt Whitlock. Check out how Swalwell replied to being called out for being a whiny loser:
Thanks, #MoscowMitch. Or is it #MassacreMitch? Which do you prefer?

Here’s the thing that ignorant, sexist pigs like Swalwell don’t think about when they tweet stuff like that:
1) He doesn’t know if any of the victims were armed and just didn’t have a chance to react because, you know, in mass shootings targets typically aren’t given that opportunity. If any of the surviving victims were armed, can you imagine how it would make them feel to see a sitting U.S. Congressman mock them?
2) Nobody outside of police and witnesses know if there was any realistic chance of anyone outside of law enforcement being able to successfully take on the shooter without harming or killing others.
3) As Sen. Ted Cruz tweeted over the weekend, there are a lot of stories out there of good guys with guns who stopped either stopped a mass shooting, stopped one from getting worse, or who used a gun in self-defense of themselves and/or their loved ones.
Swalwell chooses to ignore those instances because they don’t fit in with his anti-gun agenda. So instead, he broadsides “good guy” gun owners by despicably insinuating that there either are no such types of people, or that there are but they are too chicken fight back when confronted.
Is there any low to which this man will not stoop?
