Jonathan Turley Expertly Nails 'Slippery Slope' Democrats Are on With Their Defense of Judge Hannah Dugan

Since their campaign to demagogue the Trump administration over the Kilmar Abrego Garcia deportation case has gone nowhere, Democrats and their mainstream media comrades are on to the next "scandal," which was the FBI's arrest of Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan.

Dugan, as RedState reported, was taken into custody last Friday after being accused of two U.S Code violations per the FBI charging document: "Obstructing or impeding proceeding before a department or agency of the United States" and "Concealing an individual to prevent his discovery and arrest."

Specifically, witnesses say the 65-year-old Dugan helped illegal immigrant Eduardo Flores-Ruiz, 30, escape through a side door, along with his lawyer, on April 18th to evade ICE agents who had been respectfully waiting outside the courtroom to arrest him after pre-trial proceedings related to a domestic abuse case were supposed to conclude.

Thanks to Dugan's alleged actions, the pre-trial hearing, where the defendants' alleged victims were in attendance, did not happen. Flores-Ruiz reportedly tried to flee but was later caught and arrested after a short foot chase. But when word got back to the FBI about what had allegedly transpired, they were not amused, which prompted the unfolding of events on Friday.

Democrats were, of course, quick to hammer the Trump administration for supposedly crossing the "red line" with the arrest of Dugan, calling it "authoritarianism." Some Wisconsin Democrats even went so far as to praise Dugan, suggesting others should be prepared to answer the same call Dugan allegedly did, while declaring that "Judge Dugan was in her right in doing what she did. She didn't obstruct justice. She obstructed fascism in this case."

Between that and woke Sawyer County (WI) Circuit Judge Monica Isham saying she will not allow ICE to arrest any illegal immigrants in her courtroom and send them to "concentration camps," George Washington University Law School Professor Jonathan Turley had some thoughts on the slippery slope nature of it all:

What these politicians do not explain is where the line should be drawn if judges can now actively assist in the escape of fugitives or wanted individuals. Could Dugan order court officers to hide Flores-Ruiz? Could she put him in her trunk and drive him out of the courthouse?

Once you leave the bench to assist in alleged illegality, you find yourself on a slippery slope.

This has happened before and, according to judges like Isham, it will happen again.

On Twitter/X, Turley went on to observe that Dugan "did not issue court orders or call a hearing to address the problem. Instead, she personally facilitated his escape from federal authorities."

Every Democrat who has defended Dugan and who has slammed the Trump administration on this issue should be required to answer questions like the one Turley posed. How far is too far for those in the "Resistance" movement? Judges defying the Rule of Law? Apparently not. Domestic terrorism at Tesla dealerships? Apparently not.

Is there even a line at all anymore for these people?
