On the first day of his second term in office, President Donald Trump prioritized common sense and sanity by signing an executive order that declared "It is the policy of the United States to recognize two sexes, male and female."
The order, which also lays out the definitions that "shall govern all Executive interpretation of and application of Federal law and administration policy," was of course met with applause from reality-based individuals sick of being gaslit for the last four years - some of who essentially have been forced to bow down to the gender identity politics altar or risk cancellation
Woke leftists, on the other hand, were not amused, with some LGBTQ groups already preparing to file lawsuits, while others wondered if some of the language in the EO created a pathway to a federal abortion ban.

Across the northern border, meanwhile, Canada has been seeing some big changes recently as well, with the impending resignation of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau sparking renewed debate over what the future holds for Canada after its upcoming elections, which will take place in October.
Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre has positioned himself for the last couple of years as the anti-Trudeau, becoming a rock star in his country (and to some extent in the U.S. as well) in the process as he prepares for what he hopes to be his next role: Prime Minister.
Poilievre, who has a Ron DeSantis-like way of dealing with the media, was recently asked about Trump's executive order and if he had any plans to implement something like that himself should he get elected.
The exchange was both amusing and awkward, with Poilievre giving a brief answer toward the end of it, saying, "as far as I'm concerned, we should have a government that just minds its own damn business and leaves people alone to make their own personal decisions. That's the kind of government I'm going to run."
Watch:
Between watching the partial segment above and the slightly longer segment on YouTube (or Twitter/X), it's quite clear that he sees the issue as a private/personal one and not one that the government should be involved in in any way.
Canadian professor David Millard Haskell suggested that Poilievre's answer was going to disappoint Canada's conservatives:
There are traditional conservatives in Canada who have spoken boldly & stood publicly against radical gender ideology, all at great personal expense. They will find this answer from @PierrePoilievre disappointing.
Another tweeted that "This idea is what we call 'trying to avoid the topic because there is no answer the team has been able to figure out.'"
Having watched and rewatched their back and forth, Poilievre's answer made me appreciate all the more how Trump recognizes that its activists on the left and in the media who made this a local/state/federal government issue by forcing them to "care" about it. One of the best ways to start undoing the damage done to women's rights under the Biden administration is exactly what Trump did Monday in signing that executive order.
Correct me if I'm wrong here but I thought issues like these were at least as pervasive if not even more pervasive in Canada than in the United States.
Poilievre's answer might have been a tactic used to keep discussion of social issues on the down low, similar to how some Republicans used to try and avoid talking about abortion. But in my view, now isn't the time for vagueness and evasiveness on the matter.
Thankfully, Trump has made clear where he stands. Canadian conservatives for who this issue is a top priority, on the other hand, might find it beneficial to have Poilievre clarify in no uncertain terms where he stands, because even if it is a "minor" issue there right now, it won't be that way for long if top leaders in government who have the power to do something about it think the answer is to look the other way.
