While it’s not that uncommon to go to a concert only to get treated to pious political lectures more than music from some of your favorite entertainers, popular country singer Miranda Lambert had a different kind of meltdown during a recent performance in Las Vegas that was bizarre and, in the eyes of some in attendance, so uncalled for that some got up and walked out.
The scene was the Las Vegas Planet Hollywood where Lambert is currently doing a residency. TikTok user “redneckinvegas” shared a clip of Lambert beginning to sing her hit song “Tin Man” when she noticed a few female fans in the crowd allegedly trying to take selfies.
Unamused at not having the full attention of everyone there, Lambert stopped her performance and pointed towards the women, calling them out:
“I’m gonna stop right here for a second, I’m sorry. These girls are worried about their selfie and not listening to the song. It’s pissing me off a little bit. [pauses] I don’t like it – at all. You’re here to hear some country music tonight. I’m singing some country damn music.”
After she seemingly gestured for the women to sit down, she looked at them and snidely asked “Shall we start again?”
Though there was a smattering of cheers, some fans could be heard grumbling and deciding to leave after her rant. “Let’s go. You don’t do that to fans.”

“Five For Fighting” lead singer John Ondrasik had a great response to Lambert’s diva-like behavior:
I get it, it's not as cool as 10,000 lighters in an arena and it can be distracting. But those phones coming out when you are blessed to sing songs that people sing back to you…is just that…a blessing. Chill. https://t.co/t2AefVJi8C pic.twitter.com/8hyY2iuwq8

I also get that some music artists might understandably get frustrated that people want to do some non-stop picture/video taking instead of pausing to enjoy the show they are putting on. But if those people paid the money to get in, unless they are throwing things at the singer (which has been happening a lot lately) or are engaging in other types of behavior that is disruptive to the audience and the show, if they want to break out their phones to take selfies, who the hell cares?
Relatedly, a Carrie Underwood fan did a comparison of how the two approached photo and video takers in the crowd:

Both Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton are trending on Twitter as I write this, with some saying maybe this type of behavior is one reason why Shelton’s marriage to Lambert didn’t last. I don’t know enough about Lambert to speculate and even if I did it wouldn’t be my business.
But what I do know is that people go to concerts to have a good time and to blow off some steam. Why should they be shamed for wanting to take pictures of their time there? It just makes no sense unless there was something else going on that isn’t being reported.
