Earlier today Joe Biden made a public announcement that the United States had reached an agreement with Pfizer and Moderna that would allow the Biden administration to purchase an additional 200 million doses of the coronavirus vaccine, with the goal being the vaccination of 300 million Americans by September.
After giving the reporters in attendance a verbal tongue bath, calling them “the smartest group of people in town” (fact check: false) on the issue of the vaccine rollout, Biden faced what apparently was an unwelcome question from Fox News’ intrepid White House correspondent Peter Doocy as he attempted to exit the room.
“Mr. President, what did you talk to Vladimir Putin about?” Doocy called out to Biden.
“You. He sends his best,” Biden responded. Laughter could be heard in the background, presumably from Doocy’s “objective” colleagues in the White House press corps.
Watch:
When asked by @pdoocy what he spoke to Vladimir Putin about, Joe Biden responded "you."
Imagine the outrage in the media if President Trump had said this. pic.twitter.com/Atkj1LqYqB

Do you remember how it used to be when the press would decry Trump not answering questions and/or for giving flippant answers? Remember how they used to inform us how Trump supposedly avoiding answering questions about his conversations with Vladimir Putin was a “worrying” signal he had something to hide?
Not to mention how “journalists” used to say that readouts the White House released of calls between Trump and foreign leaders like Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky could not be trusted, because they could be edited to leave out the damaging parts?
I do.
I've been repeatedly informed readouts and transcripts can be edited and are not to be trusted. Why won't Biden say what he and Putin talked about? What does Putin have on Joe Biden? https://t.co/VUApoLlNcC

But now the game has apparently changed. The country has a new president and he happens to be a Democrat, so the same rules that apply when Republicans are in charge do not apply in this administration.
“Conservative” Never Trumper David Frum admitted as much in his reaction to Doocy’s question:
Maybe the better answer to Pete Doocy's question about the Biden-Putin call: "What did we talk about? Home decorating tips."

Sadly, very few reporters expressed concern over Biden’s avoidance of the question. I know of only one who did. Here’s how Washington Post investigative reporter Josh Dawsey reacted:
I mean, it's a fair question. https://t.co/KMriz2PiVz

Do you know what I’d like to see? A video of all the “journalists” in the room who laughed at Biden’s answer. How much do you want to bet it was the same so-called reporters who howled and screamed at Kayleigh McEnany, Sarah Sanders, and Trump himself when they gave answers the press declared insufficient or “evasive and troubling”?
I feel like a broken record here. There are one set of standards for Republicans and none for Democrats. Wash, rinse, repeat.
