Video footage on social media appears to have captured a head-on collision between a Fairfax Connector bus and a Prince William County OmniRide bus near the South parking lot of the Pentagon.
The video shows the two buses striking each other at relatively low speed. That said, 23 passengers have been reported injured, including 10 Department of War personnel.
Injuries are being described as minor at present. Eighteen individuals were transported to area hospitals for evaluation, while others were treated and released at the scene.
Emergency crews responded quickly, and the Pentagon Force Protection Agency is leading the investigation into what happened here, according to WUSA-9.

The crash occurred in the bus loop at the Pentagon South parking lot/Transit Center just before 7:30 a.m. The incident prompted a large emergency response from Arlington County Fire and several other regional agencies.
That particular loop is generally designated as a one-way circulatory loop. Buses typically flow in a consistent direction to manage inbound/outbound traffic, drop-offs, and connections at the various bus bays. Indeed, the bus approaching from the right in that video clip is in the left lane, moving in the same direction as another bus in the right lane just ahead of them.
The head-on collision raises immediate questions as to whether one of the buses may have entered the loop against the flow of traffic, turned incorrectly, or whether there was a momentary crossing/conflict point in the access road or terminal area.

Hopefully, an investigation will determine exactly what happened here.
The Pentagon Metro station and Transit Center were temporarily closed during the initial investigation but have since reopened. The road reportedly remains closed, and bus service has been redirected. Metro is activating alternate routing plans to minimize disruptions to commuters.
No fatalities have been reported with this crash. RedState will keep readers posted on any new developments.
