DEI policies at the Secret Service under the Biden administration were so absurd that the agency reportedly retained a female agent who repeatedly failed physical fitness tests while she was moonlighting as a plus-size model.
It's hard to believe that anybody at the Service could look at those words in that order and not wonder who could have thought any of it was acceptable. Then, or now.
Tucked away in a RealClearPolitics article about current Secret Service Director Sean Curran is a mention of his predecessor, Kimberly Cheatle, who resigned after the near-assassination of then-presidential candidate Donald Trump, and her aggressive commitment toward DEI programs.
The outlet spotlights one particular agent who struggled with physical fitness tests and, rather than releasing her, was granted a special assignment. All the while, she found her own special job on the side.
"Under Cheatle’s leadership, DEI had become so normalized that an overweight female agent who never passed her physical fitness tests was not only retained on staff – she was allowed to moonlight as a model," they write.
"The agent, who was featured in a magazine profile, traded on her job in federal law enforcement and hinted at her Secret Service position in a photo shoot labeled, 'Undercover, But Never Underdressed.'"

This Is Astonishing: After J13 Attempt on Trump, USSS Wasted Money on LGBTQ Summit
Well, at least it's not like this agent, incapable of passing a physical test, was on an important assignment at the time or anything. Oh, wait, she was protecting the Vice President of the United States' family.
Specifically, her step-daughter. Ella Emhoff, a renowned runway model, had this particular agent on her detail.
Multiple sources told RealClearPolitics that despite the agent's struggles, including "several failed attempts to pass a physical fitness test," she was subsequently "placed in the Special Services Division."
That division manages agency support, including armored vehicle maintenance and mail screening for the White House complex.

But it's her side job that catches one's eye. The agent describes herself on social media as a “nationally published curve model, plus-size fashion and fitness influencer, and body-positive advocate."
That body-positive advocacy led to a national modeling campaign for the plus-size brand ELOQUII, in which she promoted her role in law enforcement. In 2019, Forbes described the #ModelThat Campaign and her as "a law enforcement professional who dedicates her life to protect our country and others."
Just not a law enforcement professional who can pass a physical fitness test.
The agent, in an in-depth profile for the Washingtonian that year, insisted she "(does not) let my size dictate my life" and her plus-sized modeling is "about women breaking stereotypes and inspiring and empowering other women."
"Everyone deserves the right to be loved and acknowledged as a human," she said.
Correct, but not everyone deserves the right to serve as an agent in the Secret Service, however. Especially if they can't handle the rigors of the job.

The agency, under Cheatle's direction, was so focused on DEI efforts that shortly after the attempt on President Trump's life, the USSS spent taxpayer money sending agents to an LGBTQ “Out & Equal” Workplace summit at Disney World.
The RealClearPolitics report also notes that her leadership led agents to take refuge in an online safe space—described as "a special 'café' chat room on the agency’s internal DEI website"—where they could sound off on the struggles of being a minority in the workplace.
Turning the Secret Service into a DEI petri dish didn't work out very well. It almost cost the President his life. It compromised Emhoff's detail. And it was an utter embarrassment.
Cheatle resigned as director of the Secret Service after her congressional testimony on the Butler assassination attempt. She was given her own security detail.
Hopefully, for her sake, those involved can pass basic physical fitness tests.
