Senator Alex Padilla (D-CA), in an interview with CNN's Dana Bash, claimed that if he were dressed casually outside a Home Depot, ICE would "probably" detain him.
Padilla, who demonstrated his insatiable thirst for attention last month by melodramatically attempting to crash a press briefing by Department of Homeland Security (DHS) chief Kristi Noem, only to get forcefully hauled out by officers and taken to the ground, is now suggesting he might end up detained again.
Because of how he looks, you see. Oh, and because he likes to work on projects at home.
"What if I was outside of Home Depot?" he nonsensically wondered. "Because I like to do some work around the house, not dressed in a suit."
"Would I be a target of ICE enforcement under Tom Homan?" Padilla asked. "Probably. And it's just wrong."

Padilla is referencing comments by Homan suggesting "physical appearance" is part of the complex calculus in determining reasonable suspicion to briefly detain and question people in an attempt to locate illegal aliens.
Naturally, the media and Democrats have latched onto that phrase, unable to compute that there are multiple factors in determining probable cause.
RedState Managing Editor Jennifer Van Laar pointed out that the border czar explained his comments more thoroughly so that even CNN's slower viewers could understand it.
"I want to be clear about that again, because my words were taken out of context," he insisted. "Physical description cannot be the sole reason to detain and question somebody. That can't be the sole reason to raise reasonable suspicion."
"It's a myriad of factors. And I could sit here for the next half-hour and give you all the factors."

Bash, to her credit, did cite Homan's explanation, but it didn't satisfy Padilla, who was again desperate for attention.
"Yeah, but he laid out the factors that he's, you know, encouraging them to consider. Again, it is appearance, it's accents, it's occupation," he falsely claimed.
"Construction workers, farm workers, you name it, the evidence is out there."
There are currently no cases explicitly confirming that ICE detained someone solely because of their accent. It's a figment of Padilla's imagination. Much like his self-worth as a senator and an apparent dramatic actor.
It was just a few weeks ago that Padilla, who tried lunging towards a DHS official in Noem, prompting his momentary detainment by security, was sobbing on the Senate floor, thinking about the incident and wondering what will people think "when they see their United States senator being handcuffed just for trying to ask a question?"

A hero in his own mind. Most Americans saw the premeditated stunt and thought, "Who's this jackwagon?"
There's almost a 99 percent certainty that when Padilla clocks out from his Senate duties, he's going to head over to the local Home Depot wearing sunglasses and a hoodie and hoping, nay praying, that he'll be arrested.
