Kamala Harris, Desperate to Seem Relevant Amidst the LA Riots, Suffers a Humiliating Blow

Kamala Harris, who is actively laying the groundwork for a political comeback, recently attempted to have a conversation with Gavin Newsom about the riots in Los Angeles.

Harris, the failed presidential candidate who had every Democratic and media resource at her back during the election, and still lost to Donald Trump, is trying to test the waters for a gubernatorial run in California. The riots seemed like the perfect opportunity.

After all, this involves her voter base - both the criminal illegal aliens being repatriated by ICE and the protesters rioting in the streets.

So, after intently studying the situation by being "glued to local TV news and doom-scrolling," according to Politico, Harris picked up the phone and called Newsom.

"Unlike most in the city, she’s also been making calls to her mayor, Karen Bass, and Gov. Gavin Newsom," the outlet writes, citing a person close to the former Veep.

It didn't go as planned.

"Harris ... wasn’t able to connect with him, but left him a voicemail to express support."

It's going to be a tough sell to the people of California when your own Democrat colleagues know you're politically radioactive. Keep in mind that the Politico report, while not mentioning exactly when she phoned Newsom, was published two days ago. It's not as if there have been any updates since that, hey, the governor missed the call but quickly returned it, and the two spoke at length about the situation.

No doubt, Newsom's effort to distance himself is part of the duality of their election scenarios. Governor Brylcreem will almost certainly be running for president in 2028, as evidenced by his reaction to the riots - adamantly defending them and falsely accusing President Trump of being the problem.

Any article or photo in which Newsom appears to be embracing Kamala or taking her seriously will instantly become an ad for the GOP against him.

Sarah Arnold, at our sister site Townhall, notes that it's even unclear whether or not Bass took the phone call from Harris. She wanted her thoughts to be known, but nobody wanted to hear them,

"Harris hesitated over whether to speak out about the riots unfolding in her own backyard, worried that doing so might sway voters," writes Arnold. "In the end, she chose to weigh in—only to criticize President Trump for deploying the military in response."

But even that brought more humiliation her way. Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco torched her comments, calling them an "embarrassment."

"President Trump didn't start these riots," Bianco wrote on X. "He's not out there lighting cars on fire, hurling projectiles at law enforcement, or blocking freeways. This statement is an embarrassment and does nothing to diffuse the violent riots taking place across the city."

"The Democrats and their leaders own this."

Kamala Harris, again shouting into the wind, tried to make her feelings known on the recent incident involving Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA). Padilla tried to crash a briefing by Department of Homeland Security (DHS) chief Kristi Noem, only to get forcefully hauled out by officers and taken to the ground.

Harris called it "a shameful and stunning abuse of power."

If she's that upset about it, maybe she should call somebody.
