If Senator Alex Padilla ever decides to retire, he'll undoubtedly have a career in acting and theater to fall back on.
We saw hints of his talent last week when he melodramatically tried to crash a press briefing by Department of Homeland Security (DHS) chief Kristi Noem, only to get forcefully hauled out by officers and taken to the ground.
That was comedy, though. Padilla is now trying to expand his repertoire into dramatic acting.
Speaking on the Senate floor today, Padilla (D-CA) recalled the harrowing ordeal with all the tears and dramatics of a Squad member.
"I was forced to the ground," he said, voice breaking repeatedly, lower lip quivering. "First, on my knees. And then flat on my chest."
Which is what typically happens—and should happen—to someone who tries lunging towards a DHS official.

"And as I was handcuffed and marched down a hallway repeatedly asking, 'Why am I being detained?'" Padilla continued. "Not once did they tell me why."
He turned to others in the gallery, shaking and added, "I pray you never have a moment like this."
You don't have to pray, Sport. Just don't act like a raving lunatic when the head of DHS is speaking and move towards her in an aggressive, confrontational manner, and you won't get removed from the room.
It seems so simple, and yet Padilla isn't grasping the concept. In fact, he has many questions about what happened.
"But I will tell you in that moment, a lot of questions came to my mind," the Senator continued. "First of all, 'Where are they taking me?' Cause I know I'm not just being escorted out of the building. 'Am I being arrested here?'"
"And what will a city already on edge from being militarized think when they see their United States senator being handcuffed just for trying to ask a question?"
I don't know, man. They were probably thinking, 'Why didn't that maniac just wait until Noem was finished speaking to ask questions?' You know, like a civilized human being would.
Padilla certainly seems to think highly of himself to wonder if the city would riot even more just because of the stunt he tried to pull. What a drama queen.
"What will my wife think?" he continued crying. "What will my boys think?"
OH! Now @SenAlexPadilla is the victim?😂

"Am I being arrested here?...What will my wife think? What will our boys think?"
Maybe you should’ve thought of them before barging into a private immigration hearing led by one of the most powerful women in America! pic.twitter.com/JnizXgEyx9
Utterly embarrassing.
Padilla went on to compare himself to civil rights protesters of the past who have marched and "even lost their lives to protect our rights" and military veterans who fought in the name of freedom of speech.
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) weighed in on Padilla's press conference display when it happened, suggesting that maybe a Senate censure would be appropriate.
If nothing else, he should be censured for assuming the American people aren't smart enough to know when they're dealing with a self-aggrandizing attention whore.
