Watch: Hank ‘Guam Might Capsize’ Johnson Releases Anti-Trump Song and Good Lord, Make It Stop

Representative Hank Johnson (D-GA) - he of 'Oh noes, Guam might capsize' fame - put out an anti-Trump song on social media for reasons known only to him.

It's genuinely an injustice that his staff didn't stop him from releasing it. I mean, tackle the guy out of his chair before he hits the 'post' button if you have to. Just make sure this never sees the light of day.

Johnson uploaded the video to his X account, where he is celebrating June as Black Music Month.

"This year, I decided to come back with another jam session for you all," he wrote. "Here is my rendition of 'Hey Joe' by the Godfather of Rock, Jimi Hendrix."

The result - How about, 'Hey No'?

RIP, my ears.

I'm not sure what would compel a sitting member of Congress to do something like this. I'm not sure what would compel a man clearly limited in the guitar licks department to do something like this.

I'm not even sure what would compel a person over the age of eight to do something like this.

Yet, here we are, watching a 70-year-old adult male who has been in Congress for over 18 years, produce something that defies explanation.

To be fair, Johnson does give viewers a warning before playing, noting he is just learning the instrument and asking people to "please don't hold it against me."

It's not the guitar playing so much, it's the singing. We knew the Democrats were tone-deaf when it came to voters, but this is ridiculous. Video of a long-tailed cat in a store full of rocking chairs on a 10-hour loop would be preferable to Johnson's voice.

The congressman amped up the cringe by altering the words to the Hendrix song to offer his thoughts on President Trump, essentially making the tune "Hey Trump."

It's bad. It's so bad.

Hey Trump , where you goin' with that gun in your hand? I'm going down the street, shoot down democracy. You know I wanna be a king some day.

Hey Trump, we won't let you take our democracy down, burn it down to the ground.

This makes that whole 'Choose Your Fighter' video campaign look stellar by comparison. The taco truck outside the Republican National Committee (RNC) headquarters? Genius.

Perhaps we shouldn't be surprised. This is, after all, the same man whose most notable contribution to the public square was debating the buoyancy of Guam.

“My fear is that the whole island will become so overly populated that it will tip over and capsize,” Johnson said to Adm. Robert Willard, head of the U.S. Pacific fleet at the time.

Willard, seemingly taken aback for a brief moment, then replied, “We don’t anticipate that.”

Johnson would later suggest he was simply joking and using his “sense of humor” with the comment.

Whether it be comedy, music, or as a member of Congress, sir, we implore you, get off the stage.

Democrats have no idea how to combat Trump. But whoever is currently advising them to try to be as edgy and cool as the President needs to rethink the entire strategy. This ain't it.
