Dueling Protests in the UK With 'Unite the Kingdom' Rally and a Pro-Palestinian Protest

Saturday saw a lot of people out for protests both in New York City and across the pond in London. London, in fact, had dueling protests.

First, there was the "Unite the Kingdom" rally. People came out in central London, painting the event as a protest against the erosion of British identity.

CBS had the count at 60,000; others alleged it was higher. But it was massive.

Crowds carrying St. George's Cross and Union flags marched through central London chanting "we want Starmer out" and "Christ is King." Some wore red "Make England Great Again" hats, echoing President Trump's Make America Great Again movement.

People cited a range of reasons for attending, but many described feeling ignored by the government and alarmed by the direction of the country.

That concern might explain why Prime Minister Keir Starmer's Liberal Party took such a pounding in the local elections.

Yet so far, Starmer has refused to step down, and he prevented people from coming in to attend the rally, saying the organizers were "peddling hate and division."

With the horrible economy and the big loss, even his own people are calling on Starmer to resign.

A fifth of all members of the U.K. Parliament from Starmer's own Labour Party have called on him to step down, and four members of his Cabinet resigned this week in an effort to force him to quit.

At the same time as the Unite the Kingdom rally, there was also a pro-Palestinian march that wasn't as big in London, marching against the formation of Israel on the day they call "Nakba Day." Between the two marches, 31 people were arrested.

The day before, there was a pro-Palestinian march in New York City.

About 500 people came out with signs that included "globalize the intifada" and "by any means necessary.

This was particularly disturbing:

Several masked demonstrators carried Hamas flags at an anti-Israel protest in Manhattan on Friday, while a Hezbollah flag waved above the crowd, hours after federal authorities charged an alleged Kataib Hezbollah operative of plotting attacks on Jewish community centers and a Manhattan synagogue.
