As we reported, the Supreme Court made a big decision in the case of Louisiana v. Callais, dealing with the Voting Rights Amendment, on Wednesday. As we reported, the decision in that case may ultimately affect other states.

The Domino Effect: SCOTUS' Louisiana v. Callais Decision Unmoors Democrat Plans for Voting Takeover

That SCOTUS decision caused meltdowns from folks like former President Barack Obama and Democrat House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY-8).

In his wild attack, my colleague Nick Arama wrote, Jeffries said:

"Everything is on the table - everything - to deal with this corrupt MAGA majority that is issuing political opinions that are designed to bolster the prospects of the Republican Party, and we will not allow them to succeed."

They'd been all for gerrymandering in Virginia when they thought that would help them, but with this, they were losing their minds. Which shows they're not really standing on principle, but standing for whatever they think can give them more power and against anything that might disrupt that grip on power.

So a media person asked Republican Rep. Wesley Hunt (TX-38) what he thought, if there were no black Republicans in the House. Hunt didn't just not take the bait. This may be one of the best responses from a member of Congress to destroy the Democratic narrative on an issue that I've seen in a while.

His answer was simple: it's "not relevant." He said he thought "nothing" about that, adding, "I don't think it's a problem with anything. I'm not here because I'm black:

"I am here because I am a qualified representative for Congressional District 38, and the American people choose who they want to choose," Hunt stated. He clapped back at the media person, saying he didn't want to get into a game of "race baiting."

"If there's 4, If there's 10, If there's none," Hunt continued. What we are talking about is who is the best person to fill the seat, regardless of what they look like, he explained.

I represent a white majority district that President Trump would have won by over 20 points, and I won by over 25 points the last time I ran. I'm being judged not by the color of my skin, but the content of my character. I don't care how many black people are here. I want the most qualified people.

Kudos to Wesley Hunt. It's hard to say it any better than that. We want people who care about our issues, and will fight to promote them - that's the critical qualification. It's the Democrats who have a constant issue with race. And there will likely be more black Republicans, not fewer.
