We've seen the Trump administration bring a lot of change to Venezuela and push American national security by turning an antagonist into something of a partner. That action is also bringing change to Cuba, which is in deep trouble without its oil from Venezuela.

We saw a stunning statement from the leader of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel, admitting that they were now in negotiations with the United States and that they were in big trouble without fuel. They also said they were releasing 51 prisoners as a goodwill gesture, but didn't identify who they would be.

On top of that, it looks like many of the people have had enough of their leaders, just like so many Venezuelans and Iranians have.

A week after uninterrupted nightly blackouts, Cubans in Moron, a city in central Cuba, took to the streets banging pots and pans Friday night chanting “Down with communism” as some of the protesters broke into the local Communist Party building and tried to set it on fire.

You can see the people storming the building here with torches.

Here you can see them throwing things out of the building to feed a big bonfire in the middle of the street as they wreck the place.

In a longer video shot from a closer angle, protesters are seen throwing furniture and documents from the Communist Party building into the bonfire. One protester wrapped himself in a Cuban flag and later climbed into a nearby pole waving it. One person is heard yelling, “Burn it,” referring to the flag, but another quickly replied: “No, don´t burn it because that’s ours, that’s our freedom.”

Then in a chilling turn, two men set fire to palm branches and threw them into the building, while people nearby chanted “Freedom.”

That's when the police reportedly shot one of the people in the leg.

The local state paper reported on what had happened, terming it "vandalism."

The official media outlet reported that five people were in custody. It did not mention the person shot but added that one individual “who had fallen while intoxicated was being treated at the Roberto Rodríguez General Hospital.”

The protests aren't only in Moron, they are across the country, banging pots against the government and the horrible living conditions that existed long before the oil cut off

Good luck to them. This takes great bravery. Let's hope what's going on there will bear great fruit for their freedom and our greater security.
