We previously reported on the prediction that after the elections, the Democrats would try to move to end the shutdown because they were using it to juice their base to get out the vote.
That sounds like it was right on target.
They met to discuss how to end it.
Senate Democrats met for several hours Thursday afternoon at a special caucus lunch hosted by Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (N.Y.) to discuss a potential deal to reopen the government, but many Democrats say they need bigger concessions from Republicans to support it. [....]
Democrats were set to discuss the details of the emerging compromise package, which they reviewed broadly during a Tuesday caucus lunch meeting.
“All the meetings are the same: active conversation on how to end this,” Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin (Ill.) said before the meeting.
Now that sounds positive. However, because they're Democrats, they were typically confused.
Senate Dems saying a whole lotta nothing coming out of their 2-hour caucus mtg

Lots of “we’re unified” but no specifics on WHAT they’re unified on
Sen. Murphy: Voters on Tuesday “were making a statement about this fight”
“Everybody understands the importance of what happened”

Some were thinking they're not being blamed for it because the Democrats won races. Here's one example of that from Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT), something that could make them more intransigent.
MURPHY: “there will be some pretty substantial damage done to a Democratic brand that has been rehabilitated, if on the heels of an election in which the people told us to keep fighting, we immediately stop fighting.” https://t.co/z4M1KDz3sw

They're deluding themselves over wins in blue states when their approval is still in the basement. They didn't rehab their brand.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) told Republicans they should plan to stay around over the weekend. So that sounds like he thinks there may be action.
THUNE told Senate Republicans to plan to stay here this weekend & that he’ll tee up the House-passed CR for a vote TOMORROW — but he said he was unsure if enough Dems would back it.

60+ would need to get on the bill and then amend
Thune also said they weren't likely to offer any concessions in the10 or more votes from the Democrats after their meeting.
Thune warned there would be major issues if the Democrats didn't; they've already had to order reductions in air traffic to adjust for safety.
Here's the List of Airports with Reduced Flights Due to the Schumer Shutdown
The @USDOT is requiring a mandatory reduction in air traffic starting tomorrow because of shutdown staffing issues.

That means hundreds of thousands of passengers dealing with disruptions to travel every day because Democrats cannot accept a clean, nonpartisan funding bill. pic.twitter.com/BvUGpnEoGO
So we'll have to see whether common sense prevails or whether the intransigents win over the next day or so.
Editor’s Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
