President Donald Trump has been making an important trip through Asia.

He went to Malaysia, Japan, and South Korea, and is bringing home big deals from each place, with a lot of investments in the U.S., securing critical minerals and materials for the U.S, and deals to help national security. That was a big message to China ahead of his meeting in South Korea with President Xi Jinping.

Ahead of his meeting with China's president, Xi Jinping, Trump made a Truth social post about nuclear weapons testing, which many took as a likely message to China not to get aggressive.

Trump said after the meeting with Xi that his comments were directed at "other nation's actions." But it likely also delivered a message to China.

Trump then met with Xi in Busan, South Korea, at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit. Here was the greeting where Trump stood, and Xi had to walk to him. That's a power move.

Xi said it was "warm" to see him again, and they should stay on course with a stable relationship, even if they didn't always agree on everything.

He even praised Trump as a peacemaker, which shows he was reaching out.

A reporter shouted out a question about the nuclear testing. Trump moved on, likely the point having been made.

"We have a deal," Trump said. "Every year we’ll renegotiate the deal, but I think it’ll go on for a long time." Here's the scoop on the agreement.

Trump said afterwards that Washington’s dispute with Beijing over the supply of rare earths had been settled, China would resume buying US soybeans and Washington would reduce its tariffs on China.

Trump shook hands with Xi after their talks and boarded Air Force One to return to Washington, saying onboard that the meeting had been a “great success”.

He told reporters the Chinese leader had agreed to work “very hard” to prevent the production of the synthetic opioid fentanyl – blamed for many American deaths – and in exchange the US would reduce fentanyl-linked tariffs from 20% to 10%, lowering the overall tariff burden from 57% to 47%.

Xi agreed they had reached "consensus." They agreed to continue talking and meeting.
