Trump met the new Japanese prime minister for the first time, the first female PM they have had, Sanae Takaichi, where he praised her and signed a framework agreement on critical minerals and billions in investments in the U.S.

Sounded like they got off to a great start.

The compliments started as soon as the two leaders met on Tuesday morning. “That’s a very strong handshake,” Trump said to Takaichi.

She talked about watching the third game of the U.S. World Series before the event, and said Japan would give Washington 250 cherry trees and fireworks for July 4 celebrations to honor America’s 250th anniversary next year.

Takaichi emphasized her ties to the late Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, her archconservative mentor who had forged a friendship with Trump during his first term through their shared interest of golf.

She knew just the right gift for Trump: former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's putter. That's pretty cool, given how close they were and how much he likes golf.

Trump expressed what a good friend Abe had been, how sad he was over Abe's assassination, but also how highly Abe spoke of Takaichi.

Takaichi and Trump watched some of the World Series together, and Trump also invited her on board the USS George Washington when he visited the troops there at the Yokosuka Naval Base.

He made quite the entrance to cheers.

He gave them a little bit of the Trump dance, which they enjoyed.

Prime Minister Takaichi got into her visit, even jumping up and down.

Takaichi also nominated Trump for the Nobel Prize.

He may win the prize for the "most nominated for a Nobel prize," even if he never gets it.

Trump also met with Mrs. Abe, whom he's kept in touch with since her husband's death. That's the side of the president the media never wants to talk about. She visited Mar-a-Lago in December.

From Japan, Trump goes to South Korea and then later on to China to meet with President Xi Jinping.
