President Donald Trump gave the commencement address at West Point on Saturday.
Democrats, of course, flipped out, attacking the speech. There were a lot of bad comments, but perhaps the most ridiculous one -- and that's hard because there were a lot of ridiculous ones - was this claim from Democratic operative David Axelrod alleging that Trump just spoke about "winning" and didn't mention anything about duty, honor or sacrifice.
The Commander-in-Chief, rocking his MAGA campaign cap, preened for a graduating class of West Point cadets today, telling them it's all about "winning."

No mention of duty, honor, sacrificing for something larger than themselves--things he just doesn't understand.
He thinks… pic.twitter.com/3TbeqkZYpj
"No mention of duty, honor, sacrificing for something larger than themselves--things he just doesn't understand. He thinks those are for suckers and losers," Axelrod claimed.
This was not true and Axelrod got wrecked in the replies to his X post, yet it's still up.
.@POTUS at West Point: "You could have done anything you wanted... Instead of stock options... you chose honor and you chose sacrifice. Instead of business suits and dress shoes, you chose muddy boots and fatigues... You're amazing people." pic.twitter.com/SRi05anFw4

Trump praised how the cadets could have done anything, but instead chose honor and sacrifice, muddy boots and fatigues, saying they were "amazing people."
Trump mentioned the "long gray line," the people who had come before these cadets and made history.

He also recognized West Point Cadet Ricky McMahon, noting the long record of military service of his family and that his uncle, father, and mother graduated from West Point. As Trump noted, his father Lt. Col. Michael McMahon made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation in Afghanistan. Trump explained that the 2025 class rings were forged with gold from his 1985 class ring.

Axelrod continued the "suckers and losers" claim that has been debunked. Moreover, his attack on "winning" is bizarre because, yes, it's rather critical in fighting wars, the notion that we win. Maybe this is why Democrats have such issues with the military - they can't grasp this basic concept.
Moreover one of the most important things Trump said in his speech was that the point of the military wasn't about nation-building and "spread[ing] democracy to everybody...at the point of a gun," but rather it is "to dominate...and annihilate any threat to America, anywhere, anytime and anywhere," that he would rather that they win with "peace through strength" and the other side folding, rather than fighting. That's a policy that would stop unnecessary wars and save lives, while, yes, winning for America.
Can we review what happened with Joe Biden last year at West Point? He told that same story about getting a Naval Appointment with details that didn't make any sense. He also slurred his words and had other issues.

There's never been anything to support the claim that Biden received an appointment to the Naval Academy. He did fall at the Naval Academy in 2023. Then there's the "watch-checking" he did when he was receiving the bodies of the military personnel killed during the Abbeygate bombing in Afghanistan. That action infuriated the families. I could pick a variety of examples, but you get the idea. What you say isn't as important as what you do to protect the military for whom you're supposed to be responsible. Trump is not only saying the right things regarding the military, he's doing the right things for them.
I’m weird because I think Army officers should win wars https://t.co/DWChZNX4WL

After backlash, Axelrod posted a follow-up tweet, "in fairness."
In fairness, between that preening--the lengthy tributes to himself and shots at his predecessor and America's allies--he DID read words of encouragement to the cadets, noting that they could be doing more lucrative things and commenting several times on how handsome they were. https://t.co/FbiNAOmzjB

David should just take his tweet down and apologize, but the fact that it's still up tells you all you need to know.
Of course, Democrats don't have a lot of credibility with the American people anymore.
