I don't know about you, but whenever I hear California Gov. Gavin Newsom speak, he always makes me think of the stereotype of a bad used car salesman.
My colleague Jennifer Oliver O'Connell refers to him as "Gov. Hair Gel." And that's so appropriate when you think of his slick nature.
But it looks like he's starting his run for the White House early, if his new announcement is any indication.
Time to pitch how open he is to talk with everyone.
I'm launching a NEW PODCAST. We need to change the conversation.

I'm talking directly with people I disagree with, people I look up to, and you -- the listeners.
Egg prices? Tariffs? DOGE? We're tackling all your big questions.

Now, one could ask what he's doing about the fires. Or any one of a number of things he's supposed to be attending to as the governor of California, instead of jawing with people and readying his campaign for president.
Newsom claims it's going to be anything but the "ordinary politician podcast," "without the typical political mumbo jumbo." If there's anyone who defines "slick politician," it's him. And now he wants to talk about eggs? How about talking about them under Biden and all the other high prices that Bidenflation drove up?
Newsom says he's going to be talking to some of the "biggest leaders" in the "MAGA movement" in the first few weeks. I wonder who would give him the time of day, or is he going to have on people like Anthony Scaramucci? Why would anyone listen to what he has to say when he's made such a mess of his own state? Exactly what does he have to offer? The last thing anyone wants is to turn America into a giant version of California, based on his policies. And he can't whitewash himself into a centrist with such a transparent effort.
This may also be an effort by the Democrats to break more into the podcast arena, but why would anyone voluntarily listen to Gavin? What people want is action, not more talk -- which is why they like President Donald Trump.
Newsom is already co-host of the podcast "Politickin'" with Marshawn Lynch and Doug Hendrickson.
That features transformative stuff, like when Chelsea Handler talked about wanting to have sex with Andrew Cuomo, with gross terminology. Warning for that:
Covid was a different time.

The views for the podcasts are ridiculously low, with the last few having under a thousand views. That sounds like a colossal failure. Much like his time as governor.
So when is Newsom going to have time to actually do the job he was elected to do?
But what was great was how much it backfired on him, with people calling him out for not doing the job he has right now and saying they might have a thing or two to tell him if he really wanted to talk to those with whom he disagreed.
Let’s start with why did you throw a party for yourself at the French Laundry with no masks on in the middle of Covid when California had just about the strictest COVID regs in the country and thousands of small businesses were going outta business because of said policies? https://t.co/q6sWUY2ItJ

Was Politickin' with Marshawn Lynch not a raving success?

And aren't you supposed to be governing?
