WATCH: Colin Allred Threatens to Call Capitol Police on Citizen Journalist for Asking Him About Hamas

There has been a lot of action going on in the Capitol in the last couple of days.

As I reported earlier, anti-Israel protesters disrupted the Senate Foreign Relations Committee as they were considering Joe Biden's nominee for Ambassador to Israel, Jacob Lew. But I'm just thinking they're not going to get locked up for years for obstruction of an official proceeding, even if they are arrested. There were also other protests going on at the Capitol, including some at the Cannon office building rotunda. Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) was among the people whipping them up.

On Tuesday, a citizen journalist asked Rep. Colin Allred (D-TX) some interesting questions. Allred has said he wants to run against Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) for the Senate seat. A citizen journalist asked him about a vote he'd taken that the journalist characterized as sending money to Hamas.

Now, the smart money would have been to smile and keep walking. But Allred claimed they were on "federal property" and the person he was with who was probably a staffer told the journalist, "You really can't do that here."

That's wrong, and it's a completely arrogant response.

For electronic media coverage, the House states “[v]ideotaping and audio recording are permitted in the public areas of the House and Senate office buildings.” The video was taken inside of the public area of the Cannon House Building, the Daily Caller learned.

Allred co-signed a letter in June 2021 that urged the Biden administration to release millions of dollars in funds to the West Bank, which is controlled by the Palestinian Authority, as well as to Gaza, where Hamas gained control in 2007, according to The Dallas Morning News. The letter did not specifically call for funds to go directly to Hamas.

The citizen journalist continued to ask questions, including if Allred regretted voting against Iron Dome funding, now that Israel had been attacked.

"You're on federal property, stop doing this," Allred declared. Um, federal property means it's our property, Rep. Allred. Citizens and journalists have a right to ask you questions, whether you like it or not. Nothing the citizen journalist did was threatening or out of line, but Allred thinks he doesn't have to answer to the American people.

Cruz argued earlier in October, following Hamas’ terrorist attack on Israel, that the safeguards the United States has put in place to assure aid doesn’t reach Hamas are not effective enough, the outlet reported. In March 2021, the head of the Office of Foreign Assets Control at the Treasury Department warned the director of the Office of Threat Finance Countermeasures at the State Department that aid to Gaza could end up in the hands of Hamas, according to the Washington Free Beacon.

We've also seen reports of aid being stolen by Hamas. So some equate voting to give aid to Gaza as putting it at risk of falling into the hands of Hamas.

"Why are you supporting Biden's open border policies?" the journalist asked.

Allred threatened him twice during the exchange, saying he would "get the Capitol Police for you."

The journalist also asked a question about funding drag shows for children.

It's a pretty arrogant response when you threaten someone with the police for asking questions. Allred is supposed to be a representative of the people, but he surely doesn't act like it. And he wants a Senate seat? He can't even get the position he has right and understand that he has a duty to the American people, that he's not an elite authority.
