Elon Gives a Big Hand to Free Speech After RFK, Jr. Says Campaign Account Blocked by Instagram

Robert Kennedy, Jr. is posing a challenge to Joe Biden. According to a recent CNN poll, even without any real promotion, Kennedy’s polling at around 20 percent. Now, that’s far higher than one might think, and I think it’s an indication of a few things: the Kennedy name, the fact that he’s running as an anti-establishment guy which attracts a lot of people, and how much Democrats want a choice other than Joe Biden.

Even Marianne Williamson — the other Democratic challenger is pulling down numbers ranging around 8 percent. On top of that about eight percent want someone else. That’s about 36 percent who don’t want Joe. That’s remarkable.

However, the Democrats are shutting down any primary debate which is madness. They want to shut down any challengers. Now it is normal not to have a primary for someone running again. But that generally also assumes that that person doesn’t have a lot of challengers, not that you have 36 percent pleading for someone else. But this is the party that tried to rig things for Hillary Clinton in 2016, to block out Bernie.

So it’s easy to understand. They’re going to do all they can to drag old Joe across the line, even if they have to hide him in the basement and avoid all debate. But they’re also shutting down such an avenue for the other candidates to be heard.

RFK, Jr. was also raising the alarm about something else in the battle that should be concerning. He said that his attempt to set up a campaign account had been blocked on Instagram and that they got an automatic 180-day ban.

He called out why they might be doing that, and also said that they would not reinstate his personal account, even though he was a presidential candidate.

Kennedy called it “profoundly undemocratic”

“Social media is the modern equivalent of the town square,” Kennedy declared. “How can democracy function if only some candidates have access to it?”

Of course, we saw that some social media didn’t care about banning President Donald Trump and the leading GOP candidate for president in 2024. But Kennedy isn’t blocked on Twitter and Musk offered him a Twitter Spaces opportunity to be heard.

He’s offered that to other candidates including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis who used it to announce his campaign and Donald Trump, who hasn’t taken advantage of it yet. But that goes into that whole thing he has about being the “town square.”

It’s now set for Monday.

It sounds like they may also have learned and adjusted after the Twitter Spaces event with Ron DeSantis didn’t go well.

Now that’s a great thing for free speech, and what should be happening. I want everyone to have the opportunity to be heard, even if I don’t agree with everything he might say. This looks like Instagram is shutting down challengers to Biden.

But I think the Democrats — and their buddies in the media and social media who are always crying about “democracy” — don’t truly believe in it. It’s just a word that they sling around to justify their actions when they think it helps them, but then, when it doesn’t, they just quietly forget about it.
