There’s now more information on the attack on Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Ca), in his San Francisco home.

According to the AP, citing “people familiar with the investigation,” Pelosi was severely beaten with a hammer by an attacker who broke into the home early Friday morning. The home was specifically targeted according to the people.

Pelosi had severe swelling, bruising, and other injuries. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

Nancy Pelosi was in Washington, D.C. at the time with her protective detail so that may explain where the security was. When Paul Pelosi was arrested for drunk driving earlier this year in California, Nancy Pelosi was also away. He pled guilty to misdemeanor driving under the influence in that incident. The AP notes he “largely remains on the West Coast.”

The suspect is being held by the San Francisco police, but the FBI and the Capitol Police are also investigating. There is expected to be a presser with more details later.

There have been frequent protests at Pelosi’s home over the past couple of years. As we reported, salon owners protested after Nancy Pelosi got her hair done during the pandemic, then blamed the salon owner. Her garage was also vandalized with anarchist signs, as well as slogans to “cancel rent” and “we want everything” last year.

Protesters also posted an “eviction notice” on her door last year to continue the pandemic rent moratorium. “Ruth Sent Us” protesters also protested outside her home encouraging her to go after SCOTUS justices. That was after Pelosi encouraged people to protest against the justices to influence their abortion decision in the Dobbs case.

People from both sides of the aisle reacted to the attack on Paul Pelosi and expressed their wishes for a speedy recovery for him.
