Circuit Court Makes Ruling That Gives Dems Yet Another Shot at Trump

Democrats know they are in deep trouble. They’re about to lose the midterms big time. They know — even if they wouldn’t admit it — that Joe Biden is a mess and they’re at sea as to who they would have for 2024.

Yet what are they focused on? Getting Donald Trump and trying to prevent him from becoming president again.

We heard about the shocking raid against Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home on Monday.

But now there’s more.

The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that the IRS has to turn over Trump’s tax returns to the House Ways and Means Committee. So the Democrats can do a fishing expedition to see if they can find anything to hurt Trump in the returns.

“The 2021 Request seeks information that may inform the United States House of Representatives Committee on Ways and Means as to the efficacy of the Presidential Audit Program, and therefore, was made in furtherance of a subject upon which legislation could be had,” Judge David Sentelle wrote in the panel’s opinion.

“Further, the Request did not violate separation of powers principles under any of the potentially applicable tests primarily because the burden on the Executive Branch and the Trump Parties is relatively minor.”

What’s the excuse for going after Trump’s returns? Not the claim that he committed a crime. Not even probable cause of any wrongdoing.

The fact of the matter is that the IRS audits the president’s records every year. So the Democrats are claiming their request has to do with judging whether the IRS is properly complying with its job. That’s their “excuse” for trying to grab Trump’s records. It’s insane that the Court would go along with anything so transparently partisan to try to go after a political opponent.

But that’s where we’re at now. It’s a war, and the Democrats are committed to keeping their power by any means necessary, even with transparent moves like these.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) declared it a “victory.”

“Access to the former president’s tax returns is crucial to upholding the public interest, our national security and our Democracy. We look forward to the IRS complying with this ruling and delivering the requested documents so that Ways and Means can begin its oversight responsibilities of the mandatory presidential audit program,” she said in a statement.

So much for privacy or separation of powers.

According to the court:

“While it is possible that Congress may attempt to threaten the sitting President with an invasive request after leaving office, every President takes office knowing that he will be subject to the same laws as all other citizens upon leaving office,” the decision reads. “This is a feature of our democratic republic, not a bug.”

Can we say “clueless?” They just enabled an effort to go after a political opponent. But if there had been anything in there already, does anyone doubt the IRS would have gone after Trump?

Trump is expected to appeal.

And that’s the bottom line, now. We’re not talking about equal application of the law anymore — we’re talking about a two-tiered system where Democrats like Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden/Hunter Biden, get a pass while everything but the kitchen sink is thrown at Trump in the effort to prevent him from running again. Talk about election interference.
