Biden Looks Completely out of It During Obama WH Visit

Barack Obama was back at the White House on Tuesday for the first time since he left back in 2017. He was there for the recognition of the 12th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act, which resulted in many people (including me) losing the health care plans they had, despite Obama’s lie that you could keep your plan.

As my colleague Mike Miller observed earlier:

Obama’s “If you like your healthcare plan, you can keep it” promise was named Politifact’s 2013 Lie of the Year. He made the same promise about “your doctor,” with the same results. O also infamously promised the average family health insurance premium would decrease by $2,500 in the first year; premiums increased by more than 60 percent in the first four years.

But here he was, with Joe Biden, trying to sell how wonderful it is that we all had to pay more — assuming we could even get the good coverage or the doctor we liked that we may have had before.

If Obama thought that he was going to make Joe Biden look better by his visit, his appearance may have had the opposite effect. One of the things that soon became apparent: there was the striking difference in look between Obama and Joe Biden. Obama — while older than he was in office, is still coherent and energetic. Unlike Joe Biden, who looked even older and more out of it next to Obama.

Obama joked about Biden still being his Vice President.

When Biden was supposed to do his part, it wasn’t clear that he knew.

Biden then did that weird whispering thing again, and Obama looked embarrassed. Joe doesn’t seem to understand that the term “Obamacare” was a bit of a slight against the plan.

Then this was just a mess. I think he’s trying to say that he had some experience to be able to put through the American Rescue Plan because of the work done on Obamacare. But he doesn’t seem to know what he’s saying.

He squints to read — so he’s likely looking at a teleprompter but, still, it’s incomprehensible; he trips all over himself and refers back to “when we were president.”

Kamala Harris introduced Obama, then Biden just stood there, looking out of it on the side. When Obama was speaking, Biden even pulled out something that looked like candy or gum to eat, not appearing to be paying any attention to what Obama was saying.

After that, it went downhill.

After they were done with the ceremony, everyone was talking with Obama and ignoring Biden. First, he seemed lost.

Then he seemed desperate to be noticed, but everyone continued to shun him. They included Kamala in the conversation, but not Joe. Biden even tries to get Obama’s attention, putting his hand on his shoulder, but Obama continues to talk, not acknowledging him, in this clip.

Now, I don’t know who filmed this event, but they interestingly picked up — or maybe focused on — this treatment of Biden.

This just didn’t look good at all. It didn’t look like Biden was in charge, it looked like everyone was sucking up to Obama, which can’t make the insecure Biden feel good and will likely feed the flames of those who think Obama is the power behind the scenes.

But this pretty much summed it up for Joe Biden.
