Joe Biden had a lot of people talking after he called Fox’s Peter Doocy a “son of a b**ch” on Monday when Doocy asked about inflation.
This was not at all consistent with Biden’s promise of how he and his administration were going to treat the press but it was completely consistent with the way he attacks people whenever challenged.
The liberal media, who excoriated President Donald Trump for any criticism of the media, didn’t call out Joe Biden for his remarks or how the remarks didn’t match his promises. Indeed, they largely cheered Biden on in his attack on Doocy, showing how empty their attacks on Trump were.
But Doocy took it with great equanimity, he even had some fun with it and joked about it on The Five.
“So Doocy, I think the president’s right, you are a stupid SOB,” co-host Jesse Watters quipped.
“Yeah, nobody has fact-checked him yet and said it’s not true,” Doocy replied.
But during the conversation on “The Five,” Dana Perino said that if she were at the White House she’d be suggesting that Biden call Doocy and apologize.
Looks like someone was listening to Fox and what they said — which is both fascinating and funny — because Biden did reach out and call Doocy, as Doocy later told Sean Hannity.
Doocy said he told Biden he always was going to be asking questions different from the other reporters and Biden said he should.
Peter Doocy: “I made sure to tell [Biden] that I’m always going to try to ask something different than what everybody else is asking & he said, ‘you’ve got to.’ And that is the quote from the President, so I will keep doing it.” pic.twitter.com/3uoxpnE9J1

Doocy explained that Biden didn’t apologize. But Doocy showed he was the better person, focused on his job.
.@SeanHannity: “Did he apologize?”
Doocy: “He did clear the air & I appreciate it. We had a nice call.”
Hannity: “He — that’s not an answer. Did he apologize? That doesn’t sound like an apology.”
Doocy: “He said, ‘it’s nothing personal pal.'” pic.twitter.com/g8GPfcHOk5

Doocy: “I told him I appreciated him reaching out. Hey, Sean, the world is on the brink of…World War III rn. With all the stuff going on. I appreciate…[he] took a couple minutes…to give me a call and clear the air, but I don’t need anybody to apologize to me.” pic.twitter.com/N7wApqd30s

“He said ‘It’s nothing personal, pal.’ And I told him that I appreciate him reaching out,” Doocy said, noting Biden did call despite all the things that were going on. “Hey Sean, the world is on the brink of, like, World War III right now with all of this stuff going on. I appreciate that the president took a couple of minutes out this evening while he was still at this desk to give me a call and clear the air.”
Doocy: “He can call me whatever he wants as long as it gets him talking…You played some of the bit w/Jen Psaki & I I went in there with 2 pages of questions about crime…They’ve been rolled up in my pocket…Crime questions I didn’t get in at the press conference last week.” pic.twitter.com/vLn0WpZbTG

“I don’t need anybody to apologize to me. He can call me whatever he wants as long as it gets him talking!” Doocy said.
Doocy: “[T]hey keep calling on us at the briefing & [he] said, ‘nothing personal, pal’ and I — I think that’s enough. That’s enough, so we can move on. We can now move forward. There will be years — three to seven years of opportunities to ask him about different stuff.” (6/6) pic.twitter.com/IlQLYuXfii

Now, we have to imagine what was going on behind the scenes when they leaned on Joe Biden to call Doocy to head off yet another news story that Biden created by messing up. Likely, it was Ron Klain who told Biden he had to clean it up. But even then, Biden just couldn’t bring himself to say a few simple words like “I’m sorry.” “It’s nothing personal” is likely the best anyone could get out of Biden. He doesn’t like being challenged. He couldn’t even say he was sorry for leaving Americans in Afghanistan. I’m not sure he’s said he’s sorry for anything yet while he’s been in office and does he have a lot for which to be sorry! But isn’t that just like Biden? Because he can’t bring himself to say a few simple words he makes the story just a little bit longer now, highlighting that he can’t even do that.
