We reported earlier on how President Biden attacked Fox News reporter Peter Doocy during a Monday event at the White House after Doocy asked him if he thought inflation “was a political liability.”
Thinking his mic was turned off, Biden let his “angry man” side come out and proceeded to call Doocy a “stupid son-of-a-b*tch” as reporters were predictably being herded out of the room like cattle. For those who missed the wild moment, watch below:

Doocy later appeared on “The Five” program on Fox News to discuss what happened, and not only did he share the interesting backstory behind it (the reason behind the question), but he also had a great response to the incident, laughing about it and telling host Jesse Watters that no fact checks had been done on Biden’s comments so they must have been true:
“So I shouted… ‘Okay, what about inflation? Do you think inflation is a political liability in the midterms?’” Doocy said. “I couldn’t even hear him because people were shouting at us to get out. But somebody came up to me in the briefing room a few minutes later and said, ‘Did you hear what the president said?’ And I said, ‘No, what?’ They said, ‘He called you stupid SOB.’ And I said, Did he say ‘SOB’ and the person said, ‘No.’”
“So Doocy, I think the president’s right, you are a stupid SOB,” co-host Jesse Watters quipped.
“Yeah, nobody has fact-checked him yet and said it’s not true,” Doocy replied.
Watch:
I love how Peter Doocy handled the President of the United States calling him a "son of a b***" with humor and class — better than anyone at ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, The New York Times, Washington Post, etc. during the Trump years. pic.twitter.com/l3B4d0Mc9O

But while Doocy was taking it all in stride, other members of the media including supposed “stalwart defenders of the free press” couldn’t be bothered to condemn Biden and engaged in laughter, mockery, and/or pious “no big deal” lecturing.
Some, like CNN’s Brian Stelter and Oliver Darcy, set about retweeting hot takes from other reporters (RTs of other people’s comments are Stelter’s and Darcy’s version of “reporting” on stories they’d rather not discuss) like this one from Vulture/WTOP movie and TV critic Jen Chaney, who had earlier stated Biden was “not incorrect” about Doocy:
Of course this will probably be the lead story on Fox News for the next two days, turning it into a thing when it should really be a blip.

Stelter’s only actual “reporting” contribution outside of RTs was this straight-news write-up of what happened, which is in stark contrast to how he reacted to similar instances involving Trump:
“At the end of a Biden photo op, when reporters shouted Q’s hoping he’d respond, Fox’s Peter Doocy asked, “Do you think inflation is a political liability in the midterms?” Biden deadpanned: ‘It’s a great asset—more inflation. What a stupid son of a bitch.'”
MSNBC host Chris Hayes, who like Stelter and Darcy during the Trump years erupted whenever Trump went after CNN’s Jim Acosta, simply tweeted “literal lol” in response to the story of what Biden said to Doocy.
Joe Concha, a media critic for “The Hill,” noticed what a lot of so-called “reporters” were doing as well and the remarkable differences between their reactions now and how they were when Trump was president:
“When Trump would say such a thing to a reporter, the outrage was off the charts. Some of the same folks in this business are cheering this on or staying silent, of course, underscoring how phony said outrage was.”
CNN used to give a week’s worth of coverage to stories like this when it involved their reporters or reporters at other outlets other than Fox News. This time around? Not gonna happen.
Though I think Doocy had the right response, in my opinion, Fox News as a news organization should play hardball with the White House on this and in the other instance involving a Fox News reporter, where Biden called a question asked by Jacqui Heinrich “stupid,” just as CNN did over the Jim Acosta and Kaitlan Collins stuff with Trump. Funny thing is that during that time, Fox News actually joined other media outlets in defending Acosta and Collins.
Think CNN and MSNBC will do the same with Doocy in this case? Don’t bet on it. From the looks of things, they are taking the view that Doocy deserved it, as have a bunch of Twitter blue checks who got “Go Joe” to trend after the President’s attack.
These people are nothing if not predictable, that’s for danged sure. What absolute frauds.
