Jen Psaki Says They're Pressing to Get Kids Vaccinated, Too, With 'Strike Forces'

As we reported yesterday, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki announced that they were going to be going “door to door” in an “outreach” to “get remaining Americans vaccinated.”

Joe Biden then later repeated the same thing, showing it wasn’t a mistake or a random comment by Psaki.

But there was more.

She was asked if there was a target for herd immunity and if so, what that number would be. “What is that goal number?” the reporter asked. A pretty good question actually. Psaki’s response was horrible.

“Dr. Fauci has addressed this a number of times,” Psaki replied. “He’s conveyed that herd immunity is kind of an outdated term.”

Fauci has addressed this a number of times and given multiple different answers about the number needed. But no, herd immunity is not an “outdated term.” It’s an actual scientific term with a real meaning as opposed to pulling a number out of your butt with no real meaning — the percentage of the population immune through vaccination or infection that will protect the population in general. Now, they don’t know what that precise number is yet because it’s a novel virus. But it doesn’t mean that the term is outmoded. It means we don’t yet fully know what that particular percentage number of the population we need to reach is yet. It’s generally somewhere between 50-90% of the population, depending on the virus and how contagious it is.

Psaki said they set a goal of reaching 70% of adults vaccinated by July 4th, which goal they did not meet (although she quickly tries to skip over that), and claims they “met” a goal they didn’t set, having 70% of those 27 and older with one vaccine dose. That was a pretty slick effort right there, but rather obvious.

“Our work doesn’t stop there,” Psaki said. “We are going to continue to press to get 12-18-year-olds vaccinated, to continue to work with communities that have lower vaccination rates. That’s one of the reasons why we initiated these um — these strike forces to go into communities and determine what they need.”

So not only are they going door to door to press adults they’re going to “press to get 12-18-year-olds” as well with the “strike forces” going in.

At this point, people have had ample opportunity to get vaccinated if they want to. If they haven’t, it’s likely a choice. Government people showing up at their door may have the opposite effect and not go over well. Add to that if they’re going to target 12-18-year-olds, are they going to show up and ask people about their kids? The immediate reaction that many had to this was “vaccine police.” When you call things “strike forces,” a military term you tend to feed into that as well. This is a method that’s only going to antagonize people and smack of more government overreach.
